I remember hearing something similar about Gene Hackman’s wife, “surrounded by pills”. Turned out to be natural causes

I dislike conspiracy theories, so I’ll wait for the ruling without speculating.

If Anne’s death was drug related, it’s not going to change my thoughts or feelings about her. She was a talented chef, very entertaining to watch and a good human. I’ll remember her as she lived, not as she possibly died.

Truly a loss to the food community and the world at large.

I have so many questions about this. Why would someone take an overdose in shower or go into shower with the pills after taking overdose?? There was over 100 pills she was surrounded by. I'm sorry, it seems staged. 100 assorted pills seems over kill. Was the shower on? Her husband didn't hear it running for hours if so? Why in shower without water running if not? All seems suspect to me.
I agree. I don't think it was suicide. She was a jovial person as described by many chefs and friends. I watched a few seasons of WCIA and that was my read on her too. A heart of gold. <modsnip>

Anybody remember her from Iron Chef? Loved that show back then.

I LOVED Iron Chef but I don't remember Anne on it. I tried to find an episode and all the results are about her death, not the show. :(

She was Mario's sous chef.

If it were a drug overdose, wouldn’t the pills be ingested and not on the floor of the shower?

I loved Anne Burrell's Food Network cooking show, Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. I also bought her cookbook, Cook Like a Rockstar, that has many of the recipes from the cooking show. I don't really like any of the Food Network "reality", competition, or game shows but have watched a few episodes of Worst Cooks in America and BBQ Brawl on which Burrell appeared.

Same! I did not remember where I had learned it though. Thank you for the reminder

“Dozens of pills” could mean she fell while shaking out an aspirin, spilling the contents. It could also mean many other things. Not the most responsible reporting.
I thought she was found by her husband in the shower,
so yeah a medicine cabinet ,normally resides next to a shower. Med cabinets are full of things that are sold off in the hundreds . Motrin , vitamins , etc..
On the other hand pills are water solvent. So..doubt they were next to her.

I was a huge Anne fan, having been a line cook in an all male kitchen. She was an inspiration. MOO is that she did have a fatal cardiac event, and may have thought to grab OTC painkillers thinking it was just a extra-painful headache or chest pain. And it was over before she could even take any, dropped the bottle as she fell, and that was why the pills were allegedly all over the bathroom floor. Perhaps she'd been having cardiac pain for a while and brushed it off, as women sometimes do.
Sometimes it's just a fatal heart attack, and famous and non-famous people die from those regularly.
She will be missed! A Legend!

Anne gets credit for helping me improve my knife skills.

“Slice with the motion of the ocean.”

“Slices, sticks, dices.”

I still have a start when I put my finger on the top of my knife, waiting to get the “red finger.” :D
