Anyone going to watch the movie, Flight 93?

The movie that aired last night, to my understanding, was the first time it ran. There may have been other movies like it, but it was the premier.

i saw your post last night, & it got me to thinking...i did a search & found this....very interesting, imo....either way though, i don't think we'll ever know for sure what happened, but i think it's very obvious that a few of the passengers did plan on rushing the terrorists & taking over the plane, which IMO makes them heroes...whether they actually did or not, we'll never know.....

sad, either way it went...

http://www.flight93crash.com/flight93_shoot_down.html

edited to add....i thought it was a good movie; thought provoking for sure, imo...it showed the pain of all the families & how helpless they were here on the ground :(

Is it just a bunch of hyped up nationalism or do they show the real ending: that the plane was shot down by US forces because that is what happened. I think what happened is horrible but we need to look forward and be thinking and not just descend into hypernationalism.....that caused us to relelect Bush which has lead to disaster in Iraq, a faultering economy, a huge deficit and the turning of the government's back on the working class.......
I still don't get your post?
Which story makes it better either way?

If it was shot down by US forces, as you suggest, then that makes Bush the hero, right?

But if it really happened as the movie was told, that makes these people the heroes.

Regardless, it shows that there's a real problem of terrorism, and that the terrorists hijacked our planes on our land and killed our innocent people.
Bottom line, we have to take back our country and our rights and our world
from the Stalins and the Hitlers and the Husseins and the Bin Ladens and other terrorist groups, including those BTK, Green River, Bundy, Dahmer and other mass murderers right here in our own country. They are terrorists, too.
And I think that is why most of us come here. I can't speak for everyone.
I come here because I care about the murdered children and missing people taken from us everyday by the killers and crazed in our own country.

I don't care who is President, really, (I mean, I do but you know what I mean...) these problems have existed and will exist. At least he's trying to do something about it. It's just not enough.
More needs to be done in our own country to stop the crime here.
Our laws are obviously not tough enough or there wouldn't be so much of what we see and read about everyday right here on websleuths.

But back to flight 93.
I have to believe that based on accounts by family members and those who took calls from the people on the plane, that this story is pretty darned near close to accurate. We will never know everything, but at least we know this much. And it's very, very sad. I am surely glad I am still alive. So many people died from that tragic day.
And what a waste of a day that was, when so many people were just waking up, and going about their normal routines, suspecting nothing like that would happen. :(

I can't watch it....I did see the lead in shows the previous two days about the engineering, etc. I saw the preview of the young girl calling her mother and their interaction and it was just heartbreaking.

I think they need an all 9/11 channel where they show this stuff 24x7. The show with Robert Deniro hosting it that showed footage from within the lobbies during the attacks was sobering. Shots of firemen going up and the thud of bodies exploding from jumpers. The firemen were getting upset saying "Stop jumping we are coming to get you" while waiting in line for the stairs. Heros....heros.

Never forget, never forgive.

i don't think it's the point of which is a "better" story.....i have to be honest..i would hope that our president would give the go ahead to disable/shoot down a plane that's threatening 3,000 people...(or more)...there were nuclear "sites" in the path of that plane, from what i understand also....

it's a good "story" too, i agree; that the passengers brought that plane down...we know they were going to try...i agree w/your entire post & "understood what you meant"...just so so sad & you're right "what a waste of a day that was" :(

Are you f'ing crazy? Shot down? Come on.

Look at the crater! If it was shot down. there would be pieces of it laying everywhere all over creation for several miles. Heck if you look at the impact zone, you can see where the fuselage went in with in tact wings on each side of it. An exact outline of where the plane went in nose first. If you listen to the cockpit recording, there was a hell of a fight in that cockpit and the muslim terrorist hijackers or the folks that rushed the crew put that plane in the ground. There were witnesses to the event.

IMHO, we don't need this conspiracy theory garbage. I guess Israel was really responsible for the twin towers collapse too?

This is an insult to the memory of those on that plane.

p.s.

If you haven't ever heard the cockpit voice recording of the last minutes of the flight, you should find it on the net. It gave me an immense feeling of satisfaction because I believe you can hear those muslim terrorist pigs squeeling in pain as the brave souls took back control of their fate.

I agree. I don't want to ever forget.

I try to put this into perspective.

I think to myself. Ok, pretend that today is my last day of life and I am not going to make it home alive from work today. I can make a few phone calls to say goodbye and I want to tell people I love them and will never see them again. Ok, who do I call?

Oh man, who will take care of my puppies?

And then even minor, stupid things.
Like ... I didn't make a will. My house is a wreck. Who's going to go through all my stuff. Personal stuff at home I don't want people to see. My bills, who's going to be stuck with my bills. My job at work.

You know, all that last stuff is not important as you're about to die, but just all the stuff that is left behind that people have to go through and pick up the pieces and move on. I mean, it's sad enough for me that I will be leaving, but then I'm dead. I won't be thinking about it anymore.
But there will be a few people who'd miss me. (At least I think ;) )

Like the girl in the movie said to her mom, it will be harder for you than for me. It's true. It is harder for the survivors. They have to deal with the grief, the picking up of all the loose ends, the emotional pain, the financial pain.

I could go on and on.
It's so sad.
Those poor families.
Gosh, I still pray for them. :(

I would like to hear that. PLUS, there was a story about one of the first flights post 9-11, and the inspiring, motivating message from the plane's captain to his passengers. I haven't been able to find it, but it's awesome!

That was a great show, too. What a guy!! His wife had the most loving words about him. :( Breaks my heart.

From A & E:

In 2001, Rick Rescorla was the 62-year-old head of security at the Morgan Stanley Bank situated high up in the South Tower at the World Trade Center. Rescorla was convinced that Osama Bin Laden would use jet planes to try and destroy the World Trade Center. Long before September 11th, he developed an evacuation plan for the bank, hugely unpopular amongst the city whiz kids who worked there who thought he was mad. His evacuation plan however ultimately saved 3,000 of their lives.

plus, the passengers told more than one person, over their cell phones, that the terrorists had a bomb....the movie also made clear that the passengers guessed that the bomb wasn't real..that would make sense...i thought it was interesting.....it made me think about Sept 11th, so imo, it's not an insult to anyone's memory.... :(

but that's just me..

Here is an interesting article from CNN about the last minutes of Flight 93:
http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/07/22/911.flight.93/

I distinctly remember hearing painful screaming from the cockpit during the passenger revolt. But they don't mention it here. This is sobering.

"Allah is the greatest....Allah is the greatest" Some religion there, huh? Funny you only see them or hear from muslims collectively when someone says something bad about them on radio or tv. Let some reporter get abducted and their head cut off while alive---those videos made me physically SICK--and where are these peaceful muslims....CHIRP CHIRP CHIRP. That tells me all that I need to know about muslims.

but that's just me..

The terrorists would have succeeded if they would have kept people off their cell phones. Americans WERE taught to not fight and just sit calmly and behave if hijacked. Think about it, most ended with the terrorists landing somewhere and giving up. Once a couple people learned what was going to happen, it was revolt.

I just don't see where those four scrawny animals could have kept passengers at bay. I just don't see it. Give me a metal tray as a knife shield and my belt wrapped around my fist with 2 feet and the buckle to swing like a whip and even the smallest person would make a formidable foe. I wouldn't worry that much about the box cutter to be honest.....a nasty slash would be the worse you could get. I bet if one of them saw all 6'3" of me heading their way they would have wet themselves! :D

All I know is that if I am in a public place and I ever hear anyone say or yell Allahu Akbar I will freak on them regardless of what they are doing. I heard that one too many times in videos of them attacking our soldiers.....a buddy of mine came back on leave and had confiscated a video (insurgent proof that they exploded the IED) where when the IED went off about a mile away, you could hear them whispering Allahu Akbar....Allahu Akbar.....Allahu Akbar. It was chilling. Then in a moment of brevity our Apache Gun ships showed up (they insurgents fear them the most because they have heat sensing equipment that can find these camel jockeys hiding in the weeds and they show up out of nowhere). These idiots see the Apache behind them and scream in that sort of comical arab accent ALLLAHHH AKKKBARRRRRRR! :D They are meeting the hijackers shortly thereafter.

No I did not or will ever forget. I picked up the book and read it. I also had seen the one on the discovery channel awhile back.
