Agree on the buildings close by, but I'm curious about the blurred pic.
Helicopter with thermal imaging on first night would have been a very high chance of finding him. 100 people searching each day since. It’s not thick bush. I’m thinking human intervention here - possible accident and cover up. Playing outside unsupervised - possible to be hit by the car of a worker or family member? Falling into a dam etc feels unlikely at this point also especially since they have been searched.

I can't see how he could of got lost when it was soon dark and the only light around are from his homestead as would of been not far enough away yet. There seems to be only one other house to the south-west and a shed but that's further away. The footprint was described as being found 500m to the north of homestead which is very close to the Old Park Road. It's a very long road, 30-40km.
Moo..little children are curious, and quite good at getting lost. There are a few pages of lost little ones on WS at the moment. And they are little. Can you imagine losing a puppy out there? There are a lot of buildings out there, lots of places to explore and hide..I lived in Australia as a child lots of big vicious ants, scorpions I loved it out there and definitely spent most of my time exploring....moo

I’m sure this was discussed earlier, they are not the same property. August went missed approximately 40kms south of Yunta.
Oakvale Station is 167kms away (approximately)
The size of Yunta is approximately 1221.4 square kilometres, it depends where the distance was measured from. The border of Yunta or the actual town centre. In my experience, having visited my daughter in the outback on occasion, distance perception was pretty challenging, but that's not saying the quoted distance is wrong.

When I was Gus' age, or maybe even a little younger, I walked into a dam with my brother and sister watching. I didn't float at all, I just sank straight to the bottom. Luckily, I had the presence of mind to grab the reeds and pull myself out again (not sure what my bro and sis where doing the whole time actually 
) but perhaps little kids' body structures are different and they don't float as much...?
Dams gain a layer of sediment at the bottom over time. My dam has a very thick layer - almost metre deep in the middle. Would have to drain the dam to find anything in it.

Royce Player used to be neighbours with the family and is also an experienced tracker who knows the area well.
"I would've thought they might've found him by now, you never know, this could be something someone's missed somewhere," he said.
"Under a bit of bush, a bloody hole in the ground, or an old motorcar … could be anywhere."
He said it could be easy to "miss a little four-year-old" if the searchers were spaced out even "20 metres apart".
Mr Player, like many of the volunteers assisting in the extensive search efforts, said he dropped everything to come and help with the search for a lost little boy who "wants his mum".
"I'm a parent, so yeah … well, I don't know what it would be like, but I wouldn't like to go through it myself," he said.
He said the conditions were challenging, especially overnight, with temperatures dropping below 10 degrees Celsius.
"It's not that cold now, thankfully, but … you know it gets a bloody hell of a lot colder than this," he said........................
But, police said the print might be from before Saturday.
"We've got to remember that he [Gus] actually lives on the property and that might have been a footprint that he might have left there a couple of days ago, even before he went missing," said the officer in charge of the Yorke and Mid North region, Superintendent Mark Syrus.
While the print was found near a road, Superintendent Syrus said he thought it was "highly unlikely" anyone else was involved in Gus's disappearance.

Has it ever been reported who all actually lives on the property, or works there also. I still have no idea if this kind of place has employees or not, and if they do, whether they live on-site or not. If they live there, do they live in the same home where the family lives? And now we've heard about a goatherder, who presumably comes within passing distance of the property, maybe even of the home, during his (or her) working hours. Does this person have a separate home nearby or in town or...? How many others might there be that haven't yet been mentioned? Seems like there will turn out to be more opportunities for foul play than we were led to believe from first reports.

The Advertiser made a point of saying that Major Crimes had attended, and had left. I think that is significant.
I remember Major Crimes (in WA) attended, then left, when Virginia Giuffre committed suicide.
If there is no indication that a Major Crime has happened, I think the Major Crimes detectives leave.

"One local told Daily Mail that little Gus may have fallen into a mine.
'I would be more worried about the unmarked wells and mines he may have fallen into,' he said. 'That's the talk [among locals].'
The state's north-east pastoral district is dotted with mines and wells from a bygone era well over 100 years ago - and many of the region's station owners are still stumbling across them to this day.
They were used as water sources for livestock and for those 'chasing the gold dream' back in the day, according to our source.
Many of these sinister holes are virtually invisible to an adult's naked eye - much less a meandering child's."
Many years ago when I was a kid in Australia... a playmate fell into a hole, in a field, we did not see. Fortunately it wasn't that deep and adults were around, and he was rescued. This was in QLD, out in the bush too, though not as desolate as this station.
I expect they've checked all vehicle trunks, any crawl spaces under structures, barrels etc on the property itself.
