Found Deceased AZ - Janet Castrejon, 44, Chiricahua National Monument, 19 June 2015

Still nothing. I have a 4 year old. I would be going crazy knowing he's out there.
This young lady, while an adult in body has the intelligence of a 5 year old. Plus she's almost legally blind. How is it possible that she was allowed to walk on her own? Ugh! I don't think this beautiful soul is among us anymore 😢

When was the last time a non-family member saw her? If the dogs can't find her scent maybe she was never in the park. All sounds fishy to me.

This is a weird and sad one. Why would she let her daughter find her way back to the camp herself? By these accounts, she was mostly blind, had short term memory loss, and the mental capacity of a child. Just ONE of those disabilities would be enough reason to keep an eye on her... why wasn't she asked by her mother to wait in the bathroom for her??

She was such a vulnerable target. You would think that an Amber Alert could be issued on developmental age if biological age is the only thing preventing it. A normally developed 44 year old woman is completely different from a biological 44 year old with the mind of a 5 year old.

Oh man. I'm not liking this at all.
I don't know why but I'm thinking she never got there. I have nothing to base it on, just a hunch.
I would love to be wrong.

Never made it to the camping area/park? You could very well be onto something.

Ugh! I do hope I am wrong.
I still can't wrap my head into letting her go on alone. She was handicapped. Why would this be allowed?

Still no news.

Where are you Janet?

Janet is mentioned today in this article about little Deorr Kunz who has gone missing in a national park in ID.

Searches of reservoir, wolf den yield no clues in hunt for Idaho toddler

While stranger abductions are rare, such was likely the case for Janet Castrejon, who disappeared in June while camping with her parents in the Chiricahua Mountains in southeast Arizona, some 50 to 60 miles from the Mexican border. After an exhaustive search of the area, police said they believe 44-year-old Castrejon -- who has the mental capacity of a child -- was taken by vehicle from the mountain.

The remainder of the article is all about Janet with a quote from her brother.

Search seemed to last only a few days. I am curious to know why the kidnapping conclusion was accepted so readily. Doesn't seem to be much info out there.

Call me crazy but....if the area is known for human trafficking and drug smuggling WHY would anyone camp there??? Sorry off topic

Forgot to add that I hope she is found...sorry

Honestly, and sadly, I think Janet will be found by hikers tucked up underneath a tree or scrub. I really do believe she wandered off and succumbed to the elements. I had my doubts at first, but logically, I think this poor woman got turned around and lost. I really don't want to be cruel to the family, but Janet doesn't seem to to be the type of person it would be easy to traffic. Her disabilities would seem to preclude that, to me. JMO.

I have two theories... This is horrible, but, it is what it is:
Background:
- Brain injured people with a family support system do not just wander off. I doubt seriously that with her disabilities she "went exploring," in the 100 degree heat.
- The area has been thoroughly searched, multiple times. The SO brought in dogs, no trace was found.
- The father, siblings, and cousins are extremely active in trying to find her. Their video pleas are earnest, and they are extremely distraught.

Theory #1 - Trafficked

- People are trafficked for a variety of reasons, but the bottom line is because they can be exploited for money.
- Janet's full limitations would not be evident until you'd been around her for some time.
- This would render this a crime of opportunity, whereby she was grabbed by strangers for probably terrible purpose.
- IF she was trafficked, she is a doctor's daughter. They would soon figure out that she's disabled and that the real payday is in demanding a ransom. The fact that her father is a doctor has been all over the media, regardless of their financial situation, the assumption would be that they are rich.
- No ransom demand has been reported.

Theory No. 2 - Inside Job

This is a terrible possibility. I've seen the father's videos, I believe he is earnest in his pleas to find his daughter. Raising a handicapped person for decades is huge. It's a kid that never grows up. There is significant financial, emotional, and physical demands on a family when they are the primary caregivers for someone who is both mentally and physically handicapped. It is a job without end, without goal as your loved one, "never gets better."

- All members of the family are actively engaged in trying to find Janet, except one.
- The mother has never made any type of public statement or publicly participated in attempts to recover her daughter.
- The mother was in all likelihood the primary caregiver, every morning, every day, every night, for decades without end in sight.
- What if the mother "arranged," the abduction?

That is beyond terrible, if I am wrong, I apologize to that poor woman in advance.

Agree. I think I've said this before on this case, but I'd bet all my assets that she's out there within 1000 yards of where she went missing. Or, if my hinky meter is correct, she was never at the park. JMO.

Agreed, Azure. However, her not ever arriving at the park would also involve the father. At this point, I'm inclined to believe the guy. After she'd been gone one month, he orchestrated yet another all volunteer search. As far as her being near that park, about a five mile perimeter has been thoroughly searched with no trace found. I don't think she's anywhere near there, but I could be wrong.
