MORGAN HILL, Calif. —
The Morgan Hill Police Department has confirmed that a body found near the Anderson Lake County Park area on Wednesday afternoon is the remains of missing Morgan Hill resident, 18-year-old Marissa DiNapoli.
DiNapoli’s body was discovered three and a half miles from where she was last seen alive.
DiNapoli was reported missing on Monday after last communicating with a family member via text message on Saturday at 9:16 p.m. In the message, she mentioned plans to stay with a friend that evening and return home the following day.
However, she failed to do so and did not respond to family members’ calls.
Detectives revealed that she was last seen on Sunday at around 9:45 a.m. with 21-year-old Martin Mendoza.
Investigators say that Mendoza was her ex-boyfriend and that the two were just friends at the time of her disappearance.
