Details About Olivia & Her Case: Olivia was born in Burns Lake and was a member of the Babine Lake First Nation. Olivia was born a few months before her mother died in 1975. After her death, the children in the family were split up. Her brother grew up with their father. Another part of the family took Olivia and raised her on a remote reserve near Smithers. The children kept in touch by phone and through regular visits. Olivia’s brother last saw her in 1995 in Burns Lake after she had allegedly run away from the reserve. He claims that she was using drugs and alcohol to cope with childhood sexual abuse that had occurred at a time when many people were frequenting their home and drinking heavily. At that time, she was pregnant with her second child and living in town at the Rainbow Hotel; her first child is believed to have been apprehended by the Ministry in Burns Lake.

She left Burns Lake in 1995 for the down town east side. At this point, Olivia had allegedly been working as a sex worker and had substance abuse issues.

Olivia had the baby on November 16, 1996, walked out of the hospital. She was last seen on December 6, 1996. She was reported missing on July 4, 1997. Olivia is on the missing women task force’s official missing women list from Vancouver’s Downtown East Side.

It has been suggested that Oliva’s DNA was found on the Pickton Farm. Vancouver Police say it’s believed that Olivia is dead. In an email they said, “there is information and theories about her being linked to Robert Pickton, but there was no evidence ever located to confirm conclusively.”

This case is another victim of fate... perhaps if her mother hadn't died so early, no one would have abused her and she could have grown up normally... but drug and alcohol use at such a young age... I imagine that when those sick people came to her house to drink, no one cared at all... I imagine that the children she had were the product of the repeated rapes she was a victim of... then, to get drugs, it was easy for her to rent her body to any drunk or drug addict to get money...
I thought that in Canada, Indigenous communities were respected, but it's like everywhere else in the world... they always want to eliminate them...
