but that's in Wales I believe or the UK anyway
this case is in Ontario, Canada

True, it’s in Great Britain but Canadian law is based on English Common Law so the legal aspects are the same.

It warrants jail time if/when they are caught.

When a case pains you and someone posts about an arrest. This is great, thank you.

I found this just now:

‘“Due to the complexity of this ongoing investigation and to protect its integrity and potential court proceedings, the OPP and OSPS are unable to comment further at this time. Updates will be provided when they become available,” the police said in a news release.’

^^^ From the article above: They said they cannot release any details, including how many were arrested, the charges and where they are from.

It was a joint homicide investigation between the Owen Sound Police and OPP. The arrest/arrests, was/were, made on July 30th.

Very unusual, IMO. What pops into my mind is maybe the suspects are not in Canada.

And they arrested more than one two weeks ago. Maybe they had to be extradited?

Emphasis mine. I hope that means they have biological evidence that links them to the crime. I'm not sure if that’s part of a boilerplate statement.
Maybe evidence on the victim and at the scene + genetic genealogy? (Speculation on my part.)

‘Inside the downtown Owen Sound restaurant, a day before the public learned of the arrests, Rahman’s widow, Shayela Nasrin tried to put into words the emotions of the past 12 months.
“We are trying our best. Trying to survive,” Nasrin said over the phone as The Curry House finished its lunch service Wednesday afternoon. “At the end of the day what I have to do is to keep going.”
[…]
Nasrin said she doesn’t like to talk about that night.

“Sharif is a big part of my life and every time I go to that story it’s really hard for me,” she said.’

Understandably, imo, she declined to comment when asked about the arrests.

My first thought was, both "not from" and "from", i.e., relatives from both sides of the border.

But either way, I am glad that they were arrested. Beating a 44-year-old person on the head, I presume, turning him into a vegetable and eventually, causing his death is too much. They had the time to stop. I think now they are trying to understand who was the instigator, whose blow was the critical one and eventually, who's going to be the witness against whom. In these situations, there is probably one less than willing participant. However, there was always the choice for one of them to stop and walk out, or go to the police the next day.

There is a very small chance that one of the families had recognized their "baby" and eventually made him submit a tip, but it is less likely because then we'd know the names of two others. From this, I wonder if all three are from the same family and if it is a "blended" one.

I was looking around at discussions and someone mentioned that one suspect had an identifiable tattoo on one of his calves.

The above image is a screenshot I cropped from a photo of one suspect.

The photo is from this old article:

He has something on both calves, imo. The right looks like a Canadian flag :( But maybe a country with a similar three-panel design. Anyone?

Not even saying what the charges are seems like a new level of secrecy.

Great news!

I expect the news will come out soon. The OPP and OSPS may still be working on details or sorting out what exactly was done by which person. Not that it matters much as they may all be charged with murder.

Au contraire, I think they are within Ontario, perhaps even local to the crime itself.

If there were other police forces involved, they would have been mentioned/thanked in the Owen Sound Police Press Release.

It wouldn’t surprise me if all details are kept out of the public eye until trial as sometimes happens to ensure convictions.

Time will tell.

I’m just very glad there have been arrests and it seems they have biological evidence.

It will all come out in court.

Canadian law is based on British Common Law, facts are often held back til trial.
