17 teen year old James McGrath was killed in an altercation in a house party on May 14, 2022. The stabbing occurred during a fight, where he and 3 others were stabbed during a house party. No arrests have been made yet, and no information on suspects have been released. This took place in Shelton, CT.

Im surprised this happened in such a small part of Connecticut, very out of the ordinary. I hope they are able to determine the motive and make an arrest in this case. So sad a young life was taken this way. I hope his family gets justice.

Cute 17 year old, who is gone, just gone. His poor family, and his sad & probaby stunned friends.

Was it an end of school-year party? Did someone try to pick a fight? Did someone uninvited come over looking for someone or looking for trouble?
Just a bunch of kids at a party, and now one is gone.

TRUMBULL — Dozens of James McGrath’s teammates on the Fairfield Prep football and lacrosse teams linked arms and lined the entrance to Saint Theresa Catholic Church in Friday to greet a hearse carrying the 17-year-old’s body to a Mass of Christian burial.

The teens stood by and watched silently as Bishop Frank Caggiano greeted McGrath’s family and the teen’s casket, topped with red and white roses, was carried into the packed church, where hundreds of mourners were gathered.

Questioning of prospective jurors was expected to continue until four alternates also were selected to hear testimony beginning June 17 in Valle's trial on charges of murder and three counts of first-degree assault in connection with a fight at a May 2022 house party in Shelton.

Valle has pleaded not guilty to the charges. In 2023, he rejected a plea offer calling on him to serve 40 years behind bars.

Testimony in the trial, before Judge Shari Murphy, is expected to start June 17 and go up to July 1.

So weird that they don't do opening statements in CT. My first time learning of this bizarre law there was during the Traconis trial.

What a tragedy! 16 yo?? Geez. Did he have a history of violence?
