On Nov 26, 2024 Jonathan Lehrer was granted bail by the High Court on the 2 murder charges, for medical reasons. On (or shortly before) Dec 18/24 the High Court denied the State's request to revoke his bail.

On Jan 13/25 there was a bail hearing for Lehrer as his lawyers filed to have one of his bail conditions removed (i.e. a restriction on him traveling to the U.S.). Locals protested outside the court building as they were already upset that Lehrer was even out on bail.

On Jan 15 (or 16), 2025 Lehrer was arrested and both he and Snider were charged with trafficking firearms. In early March, Lehrer was denied bail on the firearms charges and a trial date was set for April 22, 25 & 25, with the trial to be completed by May 30.

At easy glance I don't see any news items more recent than March 2025 so I don't know if the hearing for the firearms charges went ahead in April or if it got deferred.

Doesn't look like he is eligible for bail on the firearms charge.

"In quoting section 7:1 d. of the Bail Act he said regarding any offence under the Firearms Act, 2011 punishable by a term of imprisonment of 5 years or more; the court shall not grant bail to that defendant unless it is satisfied that appropriate circumstances exist to justify the granting of bail.

On January 15, 2025, Lehrer was charged with trafficking firearms and unlawfully importing 1 Mac 11- 9MM Threaded barrel, 144 9X19 MM ammunition, IWI 25 rounds capacity 9MM Magazine; 3 IWI 32 rounds capacity 9MM magazine, 3 Glock 9MM 15 rounds capacity magazine and 3 Glock 9MM 10 rounds capacity magazine.

According to previous information from the court, it is alleged that Lehrer was engaged in trafficking these firearms on December 4, 2023, at Bois Cotlette in Soufriere."

Regarding the date of the firearms trafficking, that is several days after Daniel and Dominique were murdered.

This case breaks my heart. It seems that locals loved and relied on Daniel and Dominique. They loved the community.
I feel so sad, not just for D&D's families, but also for those that came to care about them in Dominique. It's so unfortunate though that the government seems corrupt, which definite lessens the chance of a conviction in this case (for Lehrer at a minimum, as they might throw Snider under the bus).
