So now that he's received the death penalty... do we really think it's going to happen? I know that people who are given the death penalty often sit for years through appeals and such. DS is not in great health as it is... something tells me he's going to die in prison before he is actually put to death.

I doubt he'll live long enough to die by lethal injection.

I think the coward will commit suicide in prison.

While I agree he may very well die before he can be executed this was a crime that fit the very definition of a DP case. I am glad he isolated and in a controlled environment. He doesn't get to decide when he eats, showers etc etc. His power is gone. Just him alone with his sick mind. I'm good with that.

Oh, I agree with the verdict.

I was on the fence about it, honestly... but after listening to closing arguments yesterday, I fell over the fence on the side of "death penalty." So, I definitely agree with the verdict, I am just glad he's going to be in prison for the rest of his life. Whether he dies naturally, or is put to death, he won't hurt another little girl again, and that's all that matters to me.

On a final note one thing that nagged at me was killer throwing the rope in the shopping cart when it appears that not one of those items in the cart were ever going to be paid for. Killer seemed to enjoy the game before his crime/s. Was it a taunt?

He has no emotion on his face. None. Nothing. He was just given the death penalty, and his face is completely unchanged. Gah. What a monster.

I don't know if he had a game plan firmed in his mind when he tossed the rope in the cart. I tend to think that he was going to pay for the items, load everyone in the van, and then tie up Rayne. From there, he'd have three little girls all to himself. I think the final plan formed in his mind when the children complained that they were hungry.

Good theory rocket

I kinda thought when he received his fate he looked angry. "How could you do this to ME"

I agree. I honestly feel like he had planned to take all of them somehow. When he realized that Rayne didn't really trust him, he decided just taking one of them would be the best idea. If you watch the Walmart videos, Cherish is the one that really followed him around the most, and I think when the girls were whining about being hungry, he took that as his opportunity to snag one of them.

I went back and watched it like 4 times, and I just didn't see anything... nothing. Almost like he wasn't even understanding, like she was speaking in a foreign language.

I didn't see any emotion either except for a slight nod when the judge first mentioned the word "death."

I'm not sure Raine meeting with killer is such a good idea. Then again I'm not in her shoes.

I have not gone through this, but I had the opportunity to meet with the drunk driver that almost took my (then) 3.5 year olds life. I declined. If I had been in a room with him, I have no doubts that I wouldn't have been able to control myself.

Being in her shoes, there's no way. Unless the cops were willing to say, "You can have one minute with him, we'll close the door, and we don't know anything..." That's the ONLY way I'd be able to do that, and I would lose my everloving mind. I am not a violent person, I do not condone violence, but in a case like this? I know 100% that I would have no self control.

I think he'll definitely try to. Or at least want to. Not sure how easy that is to do while on death row.

It's definitely possible. All eyes can't be on him at one time. All he needs is a piece of clothing or a sheet. And, passive hanging is fairly easy to pull off.

My concern with Rayne meeting with killer is will it be one more opportunity to torture another human being. He could care less about anyone else or their feelings. If he even were to agree to meeting with her.

I don't think he'd engage with her. I think he'd just let her talk. JMO. The best route for her would be to "talk" to him during an impact statement.
