$5K reward offered for info on missing Winter Park woman
Winter Park resident Stephanie Edwards, 51, was last seen in May after meeting a friend near her home.

Winter Park police announced a $5,000 reward is now being offered for information in the case of a woman who disappeared under suspicious circumstances in May.

Stephanie Edwards, 51, was last seen May 24 when she left her home to meet a friend around 10 p.m. She left her purse, cell phone and keys behind when she went to meet her friend and hasn't been seen since.

"Somebody needs to speak up so I can get some closure," Edward's mother, Elma Burns said. "It's been too long now. She never leaves here, and she never goes and stays away that long."

Detectives contacted "America's Most Wanted" in hopes of getting more exposure in the case. Edwards' case is now being showcased on the AMW website.

Police have searched the neighborhood on foot, with cadaver dogs and with a helicopter, but have found no clues in her disappearance and have received very little information from the public.

Edwards, a mother of three adult daughters, lived with her mother on Swoope Avenue in Winter Park. According to detectives, a man came to Edwards' door around 10 p.m. and told her another friend wanted to talk to her on nearby Lyman Avenue.

Edwards walked the few blocks to meet the man and was never heard from again.

Detectives urge anyone with information to call Crimeline at 1-800-423-8477. Tipsters can remain anonymous.

The Winter Park Police Department has enlisted the help of "America's Most Wanted" in its ongoing search for missing Winter Park woman Stephanie L. Edwards.

Edwards, who disappeared at about 10 p.m. on May 24, was listed on the "America's Most Wanted" website on July 26.

The Winter Park Police Department announced today that it doubled the reward for information in the case of Stephanie Edwards, who went missing in 2010.

Stephanie then walked six blocks to her friend's home. Stephanie stayed with her friend for about 10 minutes. After that, the mother of three vanished somewhere along the short walk home.

I wonder if there was a hit-and-run and someone took her and discarded her body somewhere they haven't looked yet. She was last seen at 11pm and if the street was dark maybe someone didn't see her in time to swerve? Just throwing an unuseful idea out there.

Interesting blog on Ms. Edwards states there was a friend staying with her that was a registered sex offender. Also states she lived with her mother and mothers boyfriend. The mother was out of state at the time of the disappearance but doesn't say if the boyfriend was gone too and it was just Ms. Edwards and her friend.
