Yes, that was artistic license for the recon. It was stated that the UID had a mustache, goatee and sparse beard along the mandible, and that he had 3" long black hair on his head.

oh im dumb, i completely forgot that this UID wasnt just a clean skeleton and there was some physical descriptions Joe Luiz doesn't look like he's had major facial damage (i cant even see the scar by his eye) but theres always the chance that the injury could have happened post-disappearance.

His wife reported Joe would not walk out on his family." "There was a vehicle available to the M/P at the time of his disappearance. However he was last seen leaving his home on foot."

There’s a 4 year gap between his date of disappearance and the discovery of the UID, whose PMI is estimated to be under a year. That would allow time for him to have sustained major facial trauma if he did leave willingly or was alive for a while after he went missing. I definitely see a resemblance. Especially with your recon that I’m so thrilled they put in NamUs! Thank you again for doing that!

I couldn't find a thread for him, so I went ahead and made one for Joe Angel Luiz in the 1990's missing forum. NV - NV - Joe Angel Luiz, 37, Las Vegas, 30 March 1992

According to the "Missing in Nevada" FB page, he also had, "He has wire in his jaw ( left side) and a scar on his lower back (left side)."

And according to his Charley Project page, he left with his suitcase on the 10th, but filled out and mailed an unemployment card on the 30th. It was delivered on April 6th to his PO Box and was cashed at a later date. Further unemployment checks were cancelled.

So he wasn't suicidal, and he had previous damage to his jaw. Very interesting!

From what I understand, some DNA samples have to be run manually and will not be automatically ruled in or out in the CODIS system.

We don't know where the DNA sample came from (Mom, Dad...) and in what format (mtDNA, et al) in Joe Luiz' case.

Black hair, facial hair, fits on height, missing front left tooth (same as UID) according to the photo, though Charley Project says he was missing 'several' teeth. Prior facial trauma where the bones around the eye area had been crushed though no mention of other facial areas.
Except...this MP had tattoos and presumably on a mummified body these would still be somewhat visible. Also he is NA and neither white nor Hispanic per the Namus description of the MP. Anyway putting it out there, just in case.

Jesse looks like a good possibility! The tattoo doesn’t concern me as it doesn’t mention how big it is or how old, the color, etc. (it could have been faded or barely visible to begin with). I think as far as description, circumstances, time frame, he’s the best fit so far. If you don’t submit in the meantime, I’m going to add him to the list!

I’ve been looking at Gary Mullinax and I wonder how far fetched the possibility is. There would have to be some credibility to the rumors in case, but even then I’m not sure. Our UID is estimated to have received the trauma to his face within a few years of his disappearance, not 20 years. Could Gary have undergone a corrective or follow up procedure in the years following his disappearance? Maybe he was in some type of witness protection program and eventually took his own life? IDK, I’ve just had both cases on my mind lately...

FWIW, I tried overlaying the images of Bobby with that of the skeleton...IMO they are very similar

Finding it very hard to believe that a guy who operated on a 5 yr old level, needed protective head gear and was under the care of the state, could make it to Kentucky from Denton without someone notifying authorities. I don't know if you've any experience with this kind of person, but it's just not feasible. Just based on my own experience, it'd seem most likely that he wondered off and had a major seizure at an inopportune time and place.

just did a deep (drunk) dive through NamUs and can't find a single person who fits this UID with respect to facial trauma AND appearance sad but if he is Hispanic, I feel like a lot of hispanic MP weren't reported missing if themselves or a family member were undocumented and didn't want that LE attention.
Also wondering if his injuries weren't so apparent? Did some googling and I see some really good results from LeFort iii fracture repairs, but I guess it all depends on the cause of the fracture, and his skull shows a lot of messy bony displacements that would probably be visible i.e. deviated nose, lower right cheekbone, and a larger (saggier?) right orbital. Anyone know any users better acquainted w/ surgeries and how skull appearance translates to aesthetic?
Here's just some guys I want to point out, all long shots but maybe yall will see something that i missed.
Daniel Daryl Standifer Sr., 41, from Indiana. This is a little more possible as he has 'previously fractured his jaw' (though this UID had more midface trauma than jaw persay) and looks like his face had a...left lean due to that. Drug and alcohol problems. Indianapolis is about 2.5hr drive from where this UID was.

Antonia Ortega, 22, from Arizona. Looks to have a past broken nose, its sort of bumpy and asymmetrical up top.

John Borrelli, Sr., 48 years old, from New York. Nose looks a bit crooked off to the left but he otherwise looks 'normal'. He left with a cross and rosary i.e. possibly could have had other catholic items as well.

William Todd Jarreau, 26, from Louisiana. Had a previous shotgun injury to the left side of his face that left him with nasal and maxillary trauma (so not necessarily the mech of injury that causes le fort fractures but around that same area).

I honestly believe he was never reported missing (or if he was, his case was never put into any databases).

That being said, here's a few people that would be worth ruling out at the very least-
1206DMTX - Ruben Cantu Ruben Cantu, missing from TX. Age, race, and height all match up. It says he's disabled but there's nothing to indicate what sort of disability he has.
The Doe Network: Case File 388DMWI James Ruland, missing from WI. He's a little outside of the height range (6'0) but he has a plate in the back of his head. No visible scarring/deformities from the one picture available, but the plate stuck out enough to include him.
4284DMSD - Robert Lue Verne Odman Sr. Robert Odman, missing from SD. Kind of a longshot- older and taller than UID and circumstances don't really line up, but he's blind in one eye and his face looks a bit asymmetrical.
1034DMCA - Donald Marcelino Alvarez-Vallecillo Donald Alvarez-Vallecillo, missing from CA. Age, race, and height match, and both had moustaches. Donald is listed as having multiple scars on his forehead and around his eyes.
963DMOK - Jesse Wayne Yancey Jesse Yancey, missing from OK. He's Native American, but age and height match. "facial bones under right eye crushed in a previous injury"
The Doe Network: Case File 1016DMIN Daniel Sandifer, missing from IN. Black hair with a moustache, age and height match, previously fractured jaw.

Possibly Mervin Walvatne? Pretty far out of the age range, but "suffered facial injuries in a car accident, including fractures to his nose, cheek and eye areas, which required surgery and wire and plastic implants."

ETA: Duh, guess the upper denture plate would rule him out!
