How does one walk into a 2016 home and just start living when you've been in solitary confinement for the majority of your life? I did not go back and read up on all the aspects of this case, but are they seriously considering another trial? I think some adult with authority, be it a judge or prosecutor, governor, whatever needs to say it is done. True justice does have an element of finality, IMHO.

So who murdered the prison guard?

Somehow I doubt there was a good CSI team recovering, marking and saving evidence. It is possible that none of the "3" did it and the one who did died or was released years ago. But I am not especially familiar with all the details of this case.
