NJ NJ- Simran Simran, 24, Indian national, vanished after arriving in the US for an arranged marriage, 20 June 2025, *Doesn't speak English/no family*

Having lived in India (I’m not Indian), Atlantic City, oddly enough, is exactly the sort of place I can see an Indian tourist on a first visit to NJ. It’s a place people would know from films. I personally think it’s pretty grim and you couldn’t pay me to go to AC. But I can absolutely see an Indian tourist opting for that over, say, some of the other parts of the Jersey Shore that we would probably think are more interesting. Boardwalk, big hotels, photo opps, hotel restaurants (which are popular in India). It didn’t surprise me at all that that’s where she went and there is a photo of her.

I assume she went with her fiancé and his family. Possibly with his friends or with female members of the family. An arranged marriage is not like you just turn up on the day forced into marriage to someone you’ve never met (not in most cases anyway). They would have met. The families would have met. She was quite likely, just my speculation here, on a bit of a reconnaissance mission rather than here to be married off. Seeing where she would live, local sights, etc. I can totally see a family trip to AC being part of that. JMO

Well, we already know she's missing. That part's been established.

I'm wondering why she went to Atlantic City also. Going to AC itself isn't significant, but for someone who knows no English and (supposedly) came alone, she seemed to know her way around. Assuming the "groom" is in the South Jersey/Philly area, that's a couple hours in the opposite direction. (If he's actually in Atlantic City, she was already there, and THEN went to Lindenwold.)

Highly unlikely that she flew into Atlantic City; AC International Airport only flies to Florida. If she flew into Newark or JFK (or anywhere else... Doha, Washington, etc), it was probably just a connection, and she ultimately flew into Philly.

MOO - she was at the Boardwalk sightseeing with the groom. Photo’s were taken to commemorate the outing. She didn’t go there alone.

Yeah it isn't AC itself that I find unusual, just that aspects of the trip throw up red flags. I agree, it isn't the greatest place. There are a some nice hotels (several not even open), some not-so-nice ones that reek of cigarettes everywhere, nothing special beach, ghetto once you get 2 blocks from the Boardwalk. But, it was neat staying in the hotel from Boardwalk Empire, although it was probably a lot nicer a century ago (and other hotels I stayed in there were a lot nicer).

I'm wondering whose phone it was and how law enforcement got ahold of them. Were they uploaded to her Facebook or Instagram? Wifi certainly wouldn't have been an issue on the Boardwalk.

Have you never traveled in a foreign country before? You’ve never visited places where you don’t know the language but still went sightseeing?

That's kinda my point.

What’s your point? In what I had replied to, it made it seem like you were questioning how she was able to travel around AC alone and not speaking English. I was saying, that’s completely normal for a traveler to do.

Every article stresses that she knows no English, and (to me) kind of gives the impression that because of this she wandered off like someone with dementia, although they may have been mentioning this for ID purposes. My point was the same as yours, it obviously hasn't hindered her ability to get around South Jersey.

I do think that if she is voluntarily missing, she'll turn up before too long. I can imagine it being a lot harder for someone in her situation (no US ID, no family, no English, no job) to simply blend in for prolonged periods.

I’ve looked for updates both in MSM and on Facebook and not found anything.

I hope Simran is safe, wherever she is. With LE not putting out additional requests for the public’s help to find her, not sure what to think.

Does that mean anything?

No reporters asking for an update?
Even if LE tells them no comment on an ongoing investigation reporters are known to update the no comment and why along with details of the story.
imo

If this was a legit arranged marriage or a scam on her part Simran could have been found or willingly returned weeks ago and we could have been kept in the dark at the request of the NJ family due to the cultural shame factor that caused the arranged husband's family to downplay the event because individual actions are often seen as reflecting upon the entire family unit which would include Simran's family if they became aware of whatever their daughter did, knowingly to them or not.

I think LE would announce "found safe" and leave it at that if she was indeed found but didn't want any news report. The public does deserve to know if a missing person is no longer missing, even if there isn't a big announcement.

I just emailed the reporter Chris Harris @ NY Post who wrote the story questioning why there has been no update(s) on Simran.

edit:
I also did the email on the Cali woman who was found in her home's freezer.
Months went by with no update, the reporter never replied.
Go figure...lol

IMO, they advertised for tips unusually widely, because she would stand out if anyone had come across her. Also, in case it was a scam, to let her and any collaborators know officials were looking (and that she should come forward).

But there are hundreds of missing people who don't even get that much media attention.

IMO, most cases on here get attention because family go to the media and beat the drum.

Thank you for this

I always find it incredibly frustrating when we don’t get an update. The details are often not our business. But the public is asked to help find a literal missing human being - something we all is good so peeps aren’t looking or not invested anymore

In cases with personally sensitive information, there's pretty much always a "found" announcement with little to no details and that's the end of it. At the very least law enforcement would update their website to "found".

Welp. Now I think it's safe to say it's more than just cold feet, a free vacation (which I always thought was the least likely scenario, because... She went to Atlantic City), or catfishing.
