The criminal prosecution of a former Beaverton police detective is having ripple effects in the Washington County case against Bryce Schubert, who is accused of killing Beaverton nurse Melissa Jubane last year, KGW reported.

Boliek’s credibility is now under review.

“Former Det. Boliek’s future availability as a court witness is being carefully determined by our Conviction Integrity Committee,” the spokesperson, Stephen Mayer, wrote in an email to The Oregonian/OregonLive.

He also said any potentially exculpatory information will be disclosed to Schubert’s defense attorneys.

Well, if this isn't interesting. I checked to see if there was anything new with this case and look what I found:

Prosecutors in Washington County say they are evaluating how to proceed in a Beaverton murder case after a detective resigned and was later charged with official misconduct.

Michael Boliek, a former Beaverton police detective who played a key role in the Melissa Jubane homicide investigation, made his first court appearance Friday on charges unrelated to the homicide. His resignation and pending criminal case have raised new questions about his role in the murder prosecution, which is scheduled to go to trial in March.

That’s not good.

Two things bother me about this!

1. It could seriously endanger the case against Bryce since this idiot signed the search warrants.

2. A cop using his badge to extort nekkid pictures is only a misdemeanor in Oregon!

Trial might be delayed to '26 now. Judge reserved 2 trial dates today. Looks like it was a well planned crime and possibly Bryce made precise decisions due to an obsession which was not returned by the victim. JMO RIP Melissa.
Well, it was delayed until March 2026, until they decided to delay it again.

Last March, Schubert's attorney requested that the trial be postponed to March 2026. However, his attorney requested that the trial be delayed once again, citing the large volume of evidence in the case and that the Oregon State Police Crime Lab is still processing some of it. A Washington County judge granted the request this week.
No new trial date has been set.

Nah. I just feel - again - that there are elements of depravity around the accused, heinous acts against the victim that his lawyers just don't know how to mitigate. JMO, these repeated delays are deliberate, designed at the very least to see the murder fade from public attention.

Wow, I wonder if the disgraced detectives action and resignation will give the defense an advantage at trial? Will they have to disclose any of that to jurors?
Unsure about the jurors but they will need to turn over info to the defense as I posted a few posts up.

March 31st is rapidly approaching. Look forward to seeing justice served for Melissa, we know so little about why and how.
Hopefully it won't get pushed out again.

Postponed again for another year 😢

I wonder what's so complex about this case? Taken from your link (the reason and new date):

defense attorneys for Bryce Schubert asked for a year-long extension from the upcoming March 31 trial date, saying they simply hadn’t had enough time to prepare given their other responsibilities.
“The caseload that we’re contracted to provide by the Oregon Public Defense Commission makes that trial setting impossible,” defender Gregory B. Scholl said.

Washington County Circuit Judge Rebecca Guptill granted the request, setting a new trial date of March 30, 2027.

This is the second time the trial has been postponed, though such delays are
not uncommon for complex cases.

This “was the earliest possible date,” the judge said.
