Russian city gripped by fear after 12-year-old girl was snatched by paedophiles and repeatedly raped on a live webcast as police flood the streets

Police are hunting for two men who allegedly kidnapped and brutally raped a 12-year-old girl to make paedophile in Russia.

The schoolgirl was seized by two men as she walked home from a music lesson in Ekaterinburg, east of the Ural mountains.

Police say it is a 'miracle' the girl survived her nine and a half hour ordeal, during which she was raped several times.

Panic has now spread in the city, which has around 1.4million inhabitants, and hundreds of police officers are flooding the streets as they hunt the attackers.

Following the sex attack, she was ‘taken to the bathroom and carefully washed’. Despite this, forensic experts collected biological material which is expected to enable police to identify the men’s DNA. One mother at a local school gate said today: ‘There is fear and panic in this district. I am not allowing my 13 year old daughter to walk to school and back alone.’

On Thursday (9 November), police spokesman Valery Gorelykh said hundreds of police had been sent to residential blocks to find the culprits. Detectives believe the flat she was taken to was in the Shinny district.

"About 200 policemen were sent to visit residential blocks in the area in a non-stop search," he said.

"Some 50 detectives from the city police office were sent to the district police where the crime took place to provide all possible help. We are using all our forces to uncover this horrendous crime."

Police issued an e-fit of a man they are searching for in connection with the incident.
