The remains were transported to the Middle Tennessee Regional Forensic Center for examination. The results of the examination are currently pending, and it is an ongoing investigation.

An Overton County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson told McClatchy News that authorities found the refrigerator containing Parrott's remains after a woman reported a fire on a rural road around 1 a.m. on July 31

He is being held on a $50,000 bond.

The investigation began on July 31 after Parrott’s body was discovered on Sunk Cane Road in Crawford. The District Attorney General for the 13th Judicial District of Tennessee said in a statement on Facebook that the body was found “discarded and burned.”
