TX - Ava Moore, 18, kayaker hit and killed by women on jetski in hit-and-run, police searching for suspect, Grapevine, 25 May 2025

another question that may be relevant: was the jet ski even hers or was it a rental from somewhere on the lake? Would help to understand if she just bailed, leaving her jet ski behind (which should be traceable back to her) or was it a rental and so she simply bolted, leaving her mess behind for someone else to deal with since it wasn't hers anyway (in which case she probably filled out forms and gave identifying info to rent it?)

Was the suspect aware of the extent of the victim's injuries or that they were fatal before she fled the scene? Had CPR begun yet when she left? Did she abandon her jet ski at the scene? I suspect answer is yes to all these questions, which imo, points to her guilt and just overall makes her look bad. Wonder what the extent of damage was to the jet ski, especially if she just left it behind. And if either jet ski rider was also injured.

My guess is that she fled on the jetski, but did not ask about the status of the woman in the kayak, or the passenger on the jet ski.

From this link above...

A witness "also noted that she had seen the women on the jet ski "driving recklessly" throughout the day."

Ugh

Puzzling. Surely, it is not the same person as the passenger. Who would get on a jet ski commandeered by someone intoxicated?

That's going to be one h*ll of a VISA bill.

Update this morning on the Grapevine PD Facebook page:

Texas Game Wardens and the Grapevine Police Department have Daikerlyn Alejandra Gonzalez Gonzalez, the suspect tied to the death of Ava Moore in custody. We are thankful for the help of fellow law enforcement officers from the Texas Attorney General’s Office, the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Dallas Police Department and Homeland Security Investigations. More details will be available later.

To me, she looks pretty smug/ careless here. I know a picture is a snippet in time, but it maddens me to see her like that knowing her carelessness caused a death.

In Gonzalez's arrest affidavit, it states she is being charged with second-degree felony manslaughter.
Her bond is set at $500,000.

They also arrested the guy who drove her away from the scene. Both are said to be in the country illegally. Which was likely why the female fled the scene.

No, there are reports that she fled the scene in a vehicle driven by another person. Don't know if he's been identified, just know it is a male. I'm fact, it was also reported that he hit another car and didn't stop, as he sped away from the scene with the jet ski driver, so there's a hit and run event from that too. Unless I misunderstood what was posted above in this thread...

I meant that she left the area of the accident on the jet ski without stopping and went directly back to the shore where the male was and both got in the car and drove away.

I see that LS had been referred to as the passenger on the jet ski.

Has it been confirmed she was a passenger? Did she know the driver?

The way this paragraph reads, LS was just at the lake and rendered aid.
I haven’t seen anything referring to Lisa as the passenger - where did you see that? I think that she was just another person spending the holiday at the lake.

Here we go, BBM - Lisa was not the passenger.

She [the other kayaker] also told police she watched Gonzalez turn the jet ski back toward the direction they had just come from and saw Gonzalez and the jet ski passenger, Clerismar Colina-Lugo, "witness that they had recklessly caused injury or death" to Moore. Gonzalez and the passenger then left the area.

This fits with early reports I saw that the passenger also tried to flee, but was stopped by witnesses. These people (the jetski riders) behaved in a way that is disgusting and inhumane. MOO.

It's a heartbreaking situation and I'm so sad for the families involved, particularly Ava's.

There was at least one person who sprang into action to help Ava after the accident. In the spirit of Mr. Rogers telling us to "look for the helpers," I think it is good for our hearts to know and share that these people are out there:

Lisa Scrabeck, who was at the lake, said she helped render aid to Moore after she was pulled ashore. She checked for a pulse and heartbeat and confirmed that Moore was wearing a life jacket, which was removed before CPR began.

"She didn't suffer in agony," Scrabeck told CBS News Texas. "It's very tragic, and I extend my deepest condolences to the family. I can't imagine being the parents of this young girl. But one thing I can say is that she didn't suffer from the moment I saw her."

Thank you, Lisa.
What kind words. I'm sure in time that will be such a comfort to Ava's family.

Such a sad event. I own personal watercraft as well and they are a LOT of fun. But there is no excuse for this kind of behavior near shore. Was she intoxicated or just didn't care?
I'd say the bond amount is irrelevant since if they bond out they will just go into ICE custody.

"Two suspects, both believed to be illegal immigrants,

that
claimed the life of a teenage Air Force recruit.

Daikerlyn Alejandra Gonzalez Gonzalez, 21, and Maikel Coello Perozo, 21,

after allegedly fleeing the scene of a jet ski collision
that killed 18-year-old Ava Moore."

IMO, just pure Hit and Run, be it from a car or truck.

This from this article,
"Suspect in fatal jet ski hit-and-run arrested - Cross Timbers Gazette | Southern Denton County | Flower Mound | News

And this concerning Ava Moore:
"Moore had “just returned from Colorado Springs after finishing her 1st year at the Air Force Preparatory School,” according to a GoFundMe page. She had previously been an “outstanding student and athlete” at Timber Creek High School..."

Please excuse if this is a repeat -- I just now found this sad, sad situation.

Rest in Peace, Ava.

This case has the potential to just explode into an ugly spectacle. I REALLY hope people can keep their cool over this. Let the system work. I think the location of this will allow it to be prosecuted appropriately. Just stay cool folks.

Because of the accused immigration status? Or a combination of all the circumstances?
