Found the kids. It's weird that I can't find the marriage records for M.H. and Avis. It's possible Avis walked away from her life or perhaps committed suicide IF she was bi-polar. I don't know where the mental illness claims originated from, but it's difficult to trust a mental health diagnosis for a woman in that era. Still, her disappearance and the "letter" she supposedly wrote smacks of foul play.

Marion Howard Mooney was born on 14 March 1926, in Archer, Texas, United States. His father, Robert Elmer Mooney, was 26 and his mother, Ora Mae Gallaway, was 25.

He lived in Anderson, Texas, United States in 1935 and 1940.

He married Bettie Jane McLauchlin on 10 August 1974, in Dallas, Texas, United States.

He died on 22 July 1999, in Seagoville, Dallas, Texas, United States, at the age of 73, and was buried in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Seagoville, Dallas, Texas, United States.

So whoever listed Bonnie Irene Mooney as the daughter was wrong. I finally found confirmation of the daughter at Family Search. Her name is Laura Ann. She was born on August 21, 1955. Apologies for posting unconfirmed information.

Did the police question the husband? Seems highly suspect to me, "found a letter saying she left him?" Then her mother gets a letter that doesn't look like her hand writing. They should question the kids too, when is the last time you saw your mother, what was her mood, had the parents been fighting again, did you hear any strange noises? Did anyone see the note? When she left the husband the first time, where did she go? Did she take the kids?
