I agree. "Still beat me ...brat." If she's thinking of Travis, how utterly chilling!
Right, in no way do I suggest that ADHD or OCD can explain away the murder, just some of her odd behavior in the interrogation room.
I think one reason I'm so fascinated by this case is that in certain ways she is so like me, and yet so unlike me in that one essential respect. I even worked as a freelance photographer in college. It has been interesting and unnerving to try to discern what made the difference, how I ended up "right" (Ivy degree, good career, happy marriage) and she went so horrifically wrong.
As a socially awkward teen I obsessed over boys I wasn't dating in ways that my adult self recognizes as creepy. I grew out of it; I guess she never did. I self-harmed but did not harm others. I lied for no reason as a child. I was never, ever cruel to animals.
This probably should've gone in the armchair psych thread, sorry--not my intent to derail.
I did too and it wasn't the first nightmare I had while watching this trial. On her first day of testimony I had a nightmare of a sociopath ex I hadn't thought of in years. Then I dreamed I killed someone I didn't know and waited in a blind panic for five days for the body to be found. Then after she said she kicked the dog I had a nightmare about trying to protect my dog from Jodi herself.I fell asleep friday to these and had nightmares allllll night. Awful.
I was wondering what she was doing too. I had no idea. It must not have worked since nothing happened and no one came in. You know everyone keeps talking about the "rope" and why did she take it with her. Any ideas? Personally, I don't think there even WAS a ROPE. This girl makes up stuff like its nothing. I have a sister like exactly like that. One minute she's sweet and nice, and the next she flips and starts screaming and attacking you and accusing you of all kinds of things. She hasn't been to my home since 1974, when I moved 500 miles away to Houston.BBM
I don't think so, IMO. She's in her civilian clothes in this video so it must be the first day of interrogations. When they brought her back the second day she had already been charged and arrested so she was wearing her jail clothes. The only time she had a writing tool was on the second day when the lady detective gave her a pencil so she could write to TA family. I believe that paper on the table is the stack she pulled from the little copy machine on the corner table.
I don't think Travis' treatment of Jodi in particular and women in general rises to the level of an "abuser" as ALV defines them. But . . . let's just say it didn't help. In so many ways Travis exhibits the traits of a pubescent child (probably what Sky was calling "issues"). Then he was pre-programmed by his mother's abusive ways to be Jodi's stalking victim. After watching all the videos this is my theory. I feel very sure Jodi killed Travis because he was ashamed of her and she had finally had enough. She says over and over how TA wouldn't let her post on his MySpace page, TA didn't want anyone to know they saw each other, Sky didn't want TA to sit by her at the Academy Awards (aka PPL Executive Dinner), and he didn't want her in his ward. She recounts numerous times TA pretty much pretended she didn't exist in public. Now all these actions are things that a NORMAL person would eventually say, this person is ashamed of me, I'm cutting this off and moving on. Unfortunately for TA he was dealing with a completely crazy psychopath. So instead of the reaction 99.9% of the world has and breaking it off she had to kill him for making her feel shame.
TA didn't abuse her, he acted like just about every man out there at one point or another. He was just really really unlucky that JA was the girl.
Take good care of yourself. This trial is EXTREMELY TRIGGERING. There is a thread for PTSD sufferers to debrief on this site - God bless them.I did too and it wasn't the first nightmare I had while watching this trial. It's weird, generally I can watch any fictional horror movie but this trial has really gotten into my dreams like nothing else.
And Deanna.Good post, Beloved Mom! (beautiful name, btw!!) -- I quite agree -- if JA had remained at large after her horrible acts against TA, and if she had continued to (mistakenly) believe that TA was planning to marry Mimi, I think (as others on here do) that Mimi's life would have been in real danger.
Even though the marriage would have obviously been impossible, JA might have wanted to finish killing the still-living half of the monster that was possessing her every moment and thought: the Mimi/Travis love affair. The thing that actually never would have happened.
I do wonder if Mimi has had any thoughts on how lucky she is to be alive... And the same goes for poor Lisa as well. Like Mimi, I think Lisa was also very fine "marriage material" for TA, and he obviously did, too. It's all so sad, but we do have two survivors.

Det Fl: Did you have any suspicion at all that she had anything to do with his death?
JAM: I asked her. I ask her because that's the first thing I ask her.
:what: Would that be the first thing you asked your daughter if her boyfriend was found murdered??? WOW the mother knows her daughter very very well.
Can the mother be called by JM as a hostile witness?
After watching interrogation vidoes #13 and the beginning of #14, it obvious Travis did not know jodi was going to his house. Its also obvious after watching all of #14 that she parked her rental car some place other than his driveway or in front of his house. She totally danced around the question "how did you get in his house".
Yes I am quoting myself. JAM stalls more and uses more ums when Det Flores asks about when she found out Travis was coming up. Her body language is quite guarded too. I'm convinced she knows more than she is letting on.More extracts from the parents interviews for those of us who haven't seen this on TV

JAM: That's JA. When she went down to Monterey I didn't even know she left until she called me from Monterey and she said Mom I'm in Monterey. She was scared when TA died. She said Mom I was at his house all the time. She cleaned his house all the time. And spent all that time there In fact Travis was supposed to come up here and they were going to go over to the Oregon coast and
Det Fl: When did she tell you that?
JAM: Um um after he died. Now it was before he died she told me he was coming up. In fact it was last last weekend I think and she said this is the weekend that Travis was supposed to come up and we were going to do things. We were going to go to Crater Lake and they a book 1000 things to see before you die and her, her and Travis were doing a lot of those things together

AFAIK the rope story started because a small tassle or bit of rope like material was found in Travis's bathroom. Det Flores summised that it was rope. Travis had pillows in his bedroom with tassels on them. I'm sure JA used one to silence the bang. However one of the juror's even asked Det Flores if the sample was tested and he said no because they didn't feel the need.Your are 100% right. There was never a rope. In order to place the knife upstairs, she pretended Travis had to cut the rope because it was to long. Remember, she said Travis tied her wrist together? She said she was able to slide her wrist out easilly and at that point they started takng pics of each other. Theres no rope in any background pics. She made it up. If she had to run down stairs to the kitchen to get a knife to defend hetself, then she had time to run out the front door. There was never a rope. Only the knife she had with her.
I want Detective Flores to read me a bedtime story. His voice is so soothing.
OMG you are so right- this music is just gorgeous!! I saw the funeral footage on NG a couple of nights ago, and that music was beautiful as well... does anyone know where to buy this music?? Not trying to sound disrespectful, I swear. It's just that hearing this music really communicates to my soul how deep of a loss Travis' family has suffered... HOW DARE JA take his life?! He had sooo much growing up/living yet to do; and yet, she made herself "judge, jury and executioner..." What a sick, twisted woman...If you need to cleanse your eyes and brain after watching those interrogation videos, watch this
The music on this video is just beautiful.
