Two people were killed and three others were injured — including the suspect — in an officer-involved shooting at a popular amphitheater in Washington State, authorities said.

A male began shooting “randomly” into a crowd gathered a few hundred yards from the amphitheater, where thousands of fans were attending the Beyond Wonderland electronic music festival, Kyle Foreman, a public information officer with the Grant County Sheriff’s Office said at a news conference.

Police confronted the gunman and exchanged fire with the man, who was injured and taken to the hospital. Police later took him into custody, Foreman said. His identity has not been publicly released at this time.

Heavy heart tonight. What we thought would never happen here at home, happened. And for what reason? 2 mass shootings, 200 miles apart, 2 suspects in jail… and SIX people dead here in the Inland Northwest. Inconceivable. And again, why? (1/3)

(2/3) Every week, another shooting in our country. Every week, people losing their lives. Every week, we’re left wondering WHY? Do we have the answer? I don’t know, but what I do know is that this is insufferable.

(3/3) All of my prayers and thoughts, tonight, to the families and friends of the 6 victims here at home, and across our country every single day. As the clock strikes past midnight
and into, yet, another day, we, as a country, need a solution.

20-year-old Lily Luksich was shot twice on June 17 during an EDM festival, once in the foot and once in the thigh.

"She is still at Harborview Medical Center and has had some setbacks but we are hoping she can be released in a few days," Stacy Renfro, a family friend said. "She had a bullet removed from her spine that had traveled from her leg and that is making a huge difference in her pain."
