I think the police are sticking to an agenda that they had in April 2015, being, if BS is convicted of the historical charges, they will build a circumstantial case that BS ( a convicted paedophile ) was due at Benaroon Dr. when WT disappeared. If they can't get up a case that the DPP will accept, they may hand it to the coroner who may make recommendations about further investigating BS. MOO

I am wondering, if BS is found not guilty in his trials and all reporting on the cases is suppressed so the public do not know how the jury may have arrived at that conclusion, what percentage of people do you think will accept the verdict and treat him like a not guilty person in his day to day life?

I'm not sure that all the reporting will be indefinitely suppressed. IIRC the request was to suppress the reporting in the first trial, so as not to jeopardise the result of the 2nd trial.

The journos are sitting in listening and recording, waiting for sub judice and suppression to be lifted.

Yes, Hillsley ... the child abuse monster ... raped more than one child, that's a known fact. But he was in jail at the time of these particular child sex offences against the two little girls.

The Crown prosecutor argued Hillsley was in jail at the time of the alleged offences.
"The brother [Hillsley] was in jail. He may have lived with them at a time prior...[he had no] access to them at that particular point in time," she said.

The NSW case did not go to trial back in the 80s due to the 'welfare' of the girls. Such was the mindset back in that time period.

“Police have been informed the offences … were not pursued formally by police at the time of disclosure due to concerns as to the welfare of the victims, given their tender age,” a fact sheet said.

if the offender has frequent access to the same children they have no need to go elsewhere and risk being caught,
especially in incest cases, the same child is abused for years and can be passed around to friends etc

Police say they expect to lay more charges alleging other child sex offenders acted “independently of and in conjunction with”Spedding.
Victorian Police were also investigating allegations against Spedding.

The allegations were reported to police at the time and are supported by case notes and medical files held for more than 25 years by at least two NSW government departments, according to a police statement of facts presented to the court....................

Sex-ring assaults of sisters alleged

“Police were made aware of further disturbing allegations of children being involved in, witnessing or performing sex acts on each other with another male adult present, or the giving of a victim by ... the accused to another male adult associate for sexual purposes,” court documents allege.
Many of the alleged offences took place in Victoria and *involve “not only further offences committed against the victims in this matter, but also further victims”.
“There is evidence of other adult offenders who are complicit in similar child-sex offences both independently of and in conjunction with the accused in this matter,” according to the court documents.

One alleged victim told police “the accused has directly lobbied her for a declaration that states he did not sexually abuse her or simil*ar when she was a child”.
After his arrest on Wednesday, this alleged victim received calls and a text message from a “third party” known to Mr Spedding, which read, “It really saddens me you’re involved in this”, the documents allege.

To be abused and harmed in such a violent and disgusting manner and have no-one - not even the police - bring these monsters to account for their sick abuses at the time. To have no recourse, no safe haven, to turn to.

They could never have dreamed up such descriptive retelling of their abuse. A young child would never know of these things unless they were subjected to them.

And to now have their abusers supported and protected by suppression.
I only hope that the suppression is lifted as soon as legally and sensibly possible, no matter the outcome of the trials, so they may feel some sense of relief and delayed justice, and know that their story has been heard.

ITA, Every child victim needs to have their day in a Court of law, and those guilty held to account.
I was reading an article elsewhere about the system in the U.K. where an M.P. i think it was stated to forget about investigating historic child abuse cases and to concentrate on the ones happening now. What a horrible thing to say, all to protect the establishment of course, IMO.
They certainly do have some horrific historic child abuse scandals/cases over there, Saville being one of them. They think because they are in entitled positions they should get away with it.
