Just saw this story for the first time and I want to throw up. I will never understand this. My youngest is 10 and skinny, but healthy. And happy. And so loved. How can parents do this? It reminds me of Lacy Fletcher.

BBM 1.: can you imagine being one of the non targeted children seeing how this child was treated? What that must do to a child's head? even if you aren't on the receiving end, to know that if the adults who are meant to love and protect you could do that to one child they can do it to you? That at any moment you could fall out of their good graces and then you are the kid being subjected to such horrors? At once frightened and at the same time thankful because better him than I? Good God.

BBM 2.: If neighbors knew they were leaving the children alone for days while they galivanted, did no one think to report it THEN since they are so anxious to report it now when the children are no longer in danger??

I was just reading about her! Ugh. It really does. I was 55 pounds and perfectly healthy at 10. Mind you I was much shorter than the average 10 year old, at just 4’1”, but I was still skinny. However! HOWEVER!!! There is no way in God’s green earth that a 10 year old can be healthier at 36 pounds unless they have an actual medical condition or have dwarfism.

Why on earth would the neighbors not report this?! Completely asinine. If you see something say something. Gosh, imagine the horrors and pain this poor boy experienced at home. He needs a new home, a nice warm meal, and a loving family, and most of all some good therapy.

He’s probably got PTSD from all this. He’ll never truly move on but it would be nice if he could be with someone he can trust and feel safe. He’s in my thoughts. I know he won’t read this, but I want to let him know that people all around the world are praying for him and care deeply about him. God bless this boy.

He sure is. He may be weak physically, but he is stronger than all of us combined. He must have constantly been fatigued, felt like he was on his deathbed, but he still managed to flee. I’m proud of him for still getting away from his situation. And at only ten years old! At his age I would have just cried and never told anyone if I were in his shoes.

I hope he will. He may have some delays with development and puberty, and probably be smaller than his peers, but he should be okay.

I don’t know how he hasn’t. It’s honestly a miracle he’s still alive, let alone able to WALK!!! They’re gonna play the same sick sob story as every other abusive parent. It’s like all abusive parents are made the same. Ctrl C Ctrl V.

So far I've only seen the details from one neighbor commenting about one of the older kids being left at home while the parents were on a cruise.

It's hard to tell if this one incident is the only incident the neighbor knew about, and it's being repeated without detail in other articles, or if this kind of behavior was commonly known among the neighbors. If it's the latter (and I suspect it probably is), then yes, why wasn't it reported that kids were being left home alone?

The four other children found inside the couple's home are now in Georgia Division of Family and Children Services custody.

The boy is reported to be recovering and is now stable.

This starved boys' case makes me think TS and KS wanted helpless young kids to control and take out their anger upon.

Good for this 10 yo boy, to escape,instead of waiting for his death...
He is a survivor,not a victim,anymore,..
he turned the tables!

His so called (foster) "parents" are locked up,facing charges of abuse,murder, neglect and so on...
No vail for them!
They won't go to their house ,"worth" half a million ,no more vacations for them.

Instead,they are brought to justice.

I hope the children will be given the opportunity,to get the funds,they need for a better start of a new life.

EW [name redacted to initials by me], the eldest of Tyler and Krista Schindley's children - though he does not go by the last name Schindley - was at the Schindley residence on Tuesday.

He told Fox5 that he had no connection to the case that has led to the hospitalization of one child and four others being placed in the custody of Georgia's Child Services department.

So I am assuming EW is an adult child who doesn't live in the home but redacted his name just in case he is not an adult. I am curious how long this son EW has been out of the home and what his experience was when still living there. How much was he around to see in the past year? Did he know what his parents were doing in their home in regards to his siblings? I note he does not go by their last name, I wonder why that is? Were he and the parents estranged?

So EW is Krista’s adult son from a previous marriage. He still has her previous name. Muddying the waters is the fact he has the same first name as Tyler’s son from his first marriage. So distinction will have to be made between EW and ES as they are two different people with the same first name.

There has to be some reason--however, warped it is--for parents to do this sort of evil.

Starvation will cause the heart to slow down due to body shutting down--metabolic and hormonal changes to try and keep the heart from atrophying. Anorexics often die of heart issues based on the stress that starvation caused on the heart muscle. The slowing is bradycardia and can be as low as 40 beats a min as well as drops in bp. It is dangerous and can lead to heart failure.
