Abby & Libby - The Delphi Murders - Richard Allen Arrested - #177

Call me crazy, but if we're mind-reading Hoosiers, I'd offer that everyone in Indiana wants to know that for Indiana child murder investigations the first 70 days of witness, tipper and potential POI interviews will not become all for naught and/or disappeared, and that all evidence-based prepared POI evidence warrants will be served and executed.

My sympathies to you, Indiana, where murder investigations can be just a hot meth.

JMHO
Seriously, thank you for understanding.

I can speak for at least some of the Indiana folks, since I've lived here all my life. In general, we support our LE, prosecutors and judges. We believe they are working in our best interests and appreciate their efforts.

OTOH, we've seen 47 exonerations since 1989 and we've read their horror stories. We really, really don't want any more innocent people sent to prison for crimes they did not commit.

My problem with these other persons of interest is we know by his own admissions that RA was there moments before the girls. So it’s a very big pill to swallow when they are now claiming LE didn’t follow up on some suspects. RA wasn’t on the radar for years after the fact so they clearly didn’t have tunnel vision here.

IMO

Allen's attorney, Andrew Baldwin, presented evidence that mirrored the defense team's Sept. 18 memorandum theorizing that Odinists killed teenagers Libby German and Abby Williams on Feb. 13, 2017, as part of a ritual sacrifice.

Baldwin argued that the state's investigators destroyed video and audio interviews with people who might be the teenagers' killers. This lost evidence — including an interview with a suspected Odinist — might clear Allen as the suspect in the case, the attorney claimed.
Delphi murder suspect Richard Allen seeks charges' dismissal over lost evidence

 and the conspiracy widens - plot thickens.

Good grief, apparently anyone who is anyone in Indiana wants poor little unassuming pharmacy tech Richard Allen framed for these murders committed by mysterious Odinists in a ritual sacrifice. sigh
IF RA is acquitted due to the circumstances, does the hunt for the "real" perpetrator then start again? Or do you (LE) then wait for chance findings?

Does the defense think they are representing their client in a professional manner? It's baffling that anyone thinks they are actually serious and trying to mount a good defense for their client. It is one ridiculous crap shot after another. And the defense will blame everyone and anything else other than taking accountability. The LE did this, the judge did that, the state did this.. and poor us no time to look at things, poor RA and the Odin guards, blah blah blah.. Seems to be they are creating the very drama they are then pointing to as being the problem.. GEEZ ya think? The fact they have to create all these side shows in order to "Defend" their client, tells me they have NOTHING to prove he was not on the bridge with a gun ordering the girls "down the hill" and then brutally murdering them. If they did, they could just use that evidence and quit with all these antics.

So they want this hearing and they get it and then they don't call a single witness to help their case and they don't ask a single question about the actual problem they want to address, they instead want to try to get other information out now to the public by asking questions about things WAY after the recordings were taped over.. things that don't need to be out till trial.
Actually, yes, there are quite a few who believe the defense is serious and are mounting a vigorous and professional defense of the defendant. Among these persons are many very learned and respected legal minds. To be "baffled" that anyone would believe Allen's attorneys are actually zealously advocating for their client is insulting not only to them personally, but also to others who simply don't see things as such.

I'm not sure what "side shows" the defense are creating; could you be more specific? I fail to see how attending a contempt hearing could be considered "antics." Suggesting that the defense offered nothing in yesterday's hearing(s) is simply not true; witnesses actually did give testimony. Officer Todd Click, for one.

It seems many think the defense should just sit there and take the beating without any resistance whatsoever. And that, to me, is more "baffling" than anything else.

IMO, if RA is acquitted, that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s not guilty of the crime - especially in the eyes of LE. It could simply be that prosecution didn’t have enough evidence to persuade the jury that he was guilty. (Think Casey Anthony or OJ Simpson.)

If it comes down to that, I pray the jury gets it right. If the evidence is there, they should convict. If not, they should acquit. If they acquit, IMO, it will be done with for RA. LE may continue to investigate others who were potentially involved.

I am more worried about a hung jury and this dragging on for years.

We can't have anything getting out that might be favorable to the accused. I've often wondered if the MSM is required withhold reporting on such things. I'm shocked/not shocked there is next to nothing about it in the news.

It was said that MS had a good episode on the hearing so I bit the bullet and went for it. Made it to the 23mm and gave up. I may try again later to finish it.

From the WANE link, I have not seen this reported anywhere else.
-----------
At the end of the second hearing, Gull granted the state’s motion to subpoena third-party records from the Department of Corrections pertaining to Allen’s medical and psychiatric health.
The state will have 15 days to review those records.

I thought Russiaville was a typo for Rushville so I Googled it, it is a legit Indiana town. Never knew it existed! I also never knew there is a Mexico, IN until this case either! I do know about Santa Claus, IN, I recall going there as a kid.

Pretty sure we've read his opinions in the past and the news did report on his testimony from yesterday.
We only have a couple of bits from MS and I posted the only links I could find that even mentioned Todd Click's testimony. His investigation and the Odin theory took a bloody beating here; I think it would be only fair if we could have some of his testimony discussed.

If you have links to news sources that have any details that we can go over, please post them.

I wrongly assumed that it would take a lot more than a nod from a judge to access our personal health records.
Apparently all those papers I sign are worthless if a prosecutor wants them.

He's mentioned in both of these articles. No bombshells. We've heard what he's had to say in the past.

There is some more within this tweet. I believe Weineke is approved here.

Right.

Motta, as defence surrogate outlined what the trial strategy is going to be some months back, and it is subtly different to what is in the Franks. The Franks sets out the basic conspiracy that the evil odinists did it as messaging. But it is a heavy lift at trial. For instance Holder has a strong alibi and RA seems not to have an alibi so if it became a head to head at trial, RA might come off second best

So the trial strategy is more likely to be about a botched investigation where these alternates were not eliminated way back in the day and now we can't be sure. Click will be at the centre of that, as he is obviously a much better witness than trying to call people like BH

Yes, those were the two MSM reports I posted and quoted from a couple of hours ago. The mentions were so brief... they said nothing about what Click testified to.

...

On Sunday afternoon, Allen’s defense team amended its motion from earlier this month, which claimed that Carroll County Prosecutor Nicholas McLeland is withholding information surrounding the case.

The information includes two undated reports allegedly never seen by the defense which explain how video interviews in 2017 were lost, went missing or did not contain audio.

The reports also reportedly contain information about reported attempts to recover the lost interviews through purchasing equipment from China.

“However, that is where the report ends,” the amended motion reads. “It is unknown whether the equipment from China was ever purchased or if an attempt to recover the missing interviews were attempted.”

The defense is also asking the court to require the state of Indiana to answer if there is photo dump evidence to further determine timelines in this case, as well as all geofencing data. This comes after the state of Indiana previously claimed that no phone dump evidence case exists from certain witnesses.

Recent filings in Richard Allen murder trial related to evidence, funding for defense

Updated: Mar 18, 2024 / 11:51 AM EDT
I am catching up on the MT, so apologies in advance if this has already been asked & answered.

Why would you order software from China instead of asking the FBI for assistance or hiring a computer forensics specialist to do it? Trying to order something for instead of hiring/asking for specialists could do more damage and lose more than was already lost.

Thanks for posting that. I wish we had Click's testimony concerning the phone.

From the affidavit, it sounds like it might have started with a phone video of a possible female kidnapping (similar to L&A) but ended up being more about a drug deal gone bad.

However, it's good to know JM was involved in meth dealing.

Yes it was a male associate of the drug dealer that was kidnapped in a drug deal gone bad. Not at all related.

Probably because it was NBD.

I actually don't understand why AB wanted to run this Click testimony pre-trial in support of a motion that is likely to fail. Click is probably his best witness so wouldn't you want to save this?

Maybe as posted upthread, his content is well known (it also supported Franks), but it seems an odd choice
