I don't know about her back, Vickie, but this is what we've been referring to about Oprah et al:

Nadya Suleman, 33, the mother of the eight newly-born children, is now in talks to break the silence on her life story for the whopping amount of $2 million. Speculation has it that less than a week ago she could have gotten as much as five times the sum, that is, before word transpired in the media that she had other six children under 8 at home, in her care. This is when public interest for her case plunged, which is why rumor has it that she’s now doing her best to get on Oprah before interest dwindles even more.

According to several media outlets, Oprah is not the only one looking for exclusivity on the Suleman story. “Good Morning America” presenter Diane Sawyer is also said to be looking into the deal, as also is CBS’ Katie Couric, both of them being reportedly more than willing to pay the approximately $2 million price Suleman asks for her story. Whether any of the three will actually get to have the 33-year-old mother on the set is yet to be established.

I should have been more clear. "Helping out" meaning she wasn't going to provide for the kids, other than maybe BUYING a story. It's all too gross.

I hope that the grandmother at least takes the six children with her if she does leave. They're probably very bonded to her and they need someone to continue taking care of them. Her husband should make good money in Iraq and maybe she can get a portion of whatever Nadya is paid for her story even if she has to go to court to get it. Even a couple of million won't last very long if Nadya has to get a large home, all the supplies, and live in help until they all start school.

I have a feeling that CPS will step in any day, now, given how the reporter described that the other 6 are living in a filthy environment. And it is of a major concern that the grandmother is struggling and obviously having a very hard time tending to the kids.

It was reported (it was on one of those tv tabloid shows... can't remember which) that someone that knows Nadya says that she has never had plastic surgery. I call bunk on that because a highschool pic of her is floating around and her nose looks very different, now. Even surgery experts that have been on tv, says that she looks to have had major plastic surgery.

Octuplets' grandmother criticizes daughter

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The mother of the woman who used a fertility doctor to give birth to octuplets, despite already having six young children, called her daughter's actions "unconscionable" in an interview posted online Sunday.
snip
Nadya Suleman, a divorced single mother, told NBC's "Today" show that the same fertility specialist provided in-vitro fertilization for all 14 of her children.
Angela Suleman seemed to contradict that account, saying the fertility specialist who helped her daughter give birth to the octuplets was a different doctor from the one who aided in the birth of her first six childr

I don't know where the "middle road" is either. And no matter what the children will suffer for the mother's choices. The real suffering is that these children will not be mothered as they deserve and need as their birthright in our society. Sorta makes boycotting Gerber or Gerber refusing to pitch in baby food small potatoes.

The least we can do is see them as in need of "welfare" because they exist and need help. I sure hate to see the babies split up from each other, and from the older sibs too. Not that a single one of them will understand it until much later.

Which is more important, to preserve the "status" of these eight as the world's first set of living octuplets and throw funds and products at them to keep them all together or allow the obvious failure of Nadya's enterprise to shine forth?

There is a limit to what the human condition can allow, and what Nadya just did is like that old signpost "abandon all hope ye who enter here" lol. Let's allow our outrage to prevent this from happening again, and all the consequences we haven't thought of yet to manifest and learn from them, as a society.

Being born one of the world's first living octuplets and taken away and raised in foster care isn't the worst life sentence you could have . . . you could be their grandmother!!! (poor Angela . . . great link, nanny1)

The next half-hour segment on the Today Show (7:30 am to 8:00 am), will have more of the interview and a peek at the babies.

Try the link again, Takenote as it's working - and it's really enlightening.

Thanks for the link to the photos Sassygerl. Looks like the laundry is an issue now - oh boy!

I looked at the pictures at the link...holy smokes. I just don't know what to say. I really am at a loss for words here.

Just finished up watching the Today segment... the babies are beautiful... sad that their mother is living in a whole other universe. :(

Yes, she did say that... crazy...

I've not seen the interview yet (or maybe I missed it?) but if she's struggling now when reality and sleep deprivation set in then she'll know what having so many children is all about.

I hate to sound harsh but I feel like slapping the stupid out of her.

I feel for ALL the children and the grandparents.

I was fascinated by this article. It is clear that Suleman does not want to be left alone-she claims that once she completes her education she will be able to support her family. She appears to have spent the bulk of her settlement and workman's comp on her invitro unless she was given a pass on fees.

BUT-she does not live on her own, she lives with her mother. She did not care for her 6 the last 2 months, her mother did. Who will be caring for the 14 while she pursues her education and then works? Her mother indicates that it will not be her. The father of the children, according to the Time article, is in "shock" but Suleman is hoping he will become a part of the children's lives. Like how? Active parenting and child support? I hope that he had her sign some kind of contract prior to the donation of his that waived child support at a minimum. Talk about bait and switch.

Shame on a doctor who would be so irresponsible in allowing a woman who seems pathologically obsessed to gestate so many children. Again, I suspect there was a little bait and switch going on here. I doubt she said implant them all and if they take I am not going to selectively abort any.

So who is footing the bill for the hospitalization, births and time in the NICU? Seriously, there were 40+ specialists present for the birth.

The article goes on to say that Suleman is going to be moving to a bigger house. Who is paying for it? Who is going with her? Is she going to live on her own and attempt to parent her brood? Does she believe that people will pick up what she cannot physically or mentally accomplish? How can she sustain the physical, mental and emotional well being of 14 lives when it seems clear that she has difficulty sustaining the same for simply herself?

I am at a loss as to why people should not be allowed to weigh in on the supreme selfishness of this act. Her PUBLICIST says she is the most wanted mother in the US. Good on her-but I am disappointed in all who feed the troll, so to speak. Oprah, Ann Curry, Time Magazine notwithstanding.

As a thinking, educated adult this woman put society in the position of having to become responsible for the decision she made on her own. She wants to claim a right to privacy allows her to decide that she can give birth to as many children as she chooses with no thought to the mechanics or the outcome. But then she wants the world to provide her with the means to make this a success-money and freebies.

All of her wishes will likely come true because in the end, no one will allow the children to suffer undue harm because they did not make the decision to be born into the world as part of a side show.

I think, no offense, that this is flat out child abuse. JMO.

Rant over.
