Note the time last seen and heard from. Has this already been reported? I am also having trouble linking another story from myrtle beach online, I believe was published Oct 27, 2013, which is a "best of's" Myrtle beach which seems aimed at tourists. Peachtree Landing in Socastee is mentioned as a nice place to spend a morning. Could someone with better skills bring that article here? Thank you. It may be that more people than locals have been made aware of P'tree landing.TIA
There was no Christmas miracle for the family of Heather Elvis, the 20-year-old from Socastee who has been missing more than a week.
Law enforcement and the Center for Missing Persons or CUE are still searching the Socastee area with a focus on the water.
Elvis was reported missing Dec. 19 when her car, a 2001 Dodge Intrepid, was found abandoned at Peachtree Landing, Horry County police Lt. Robert Kegler said.
It was unclear who last saw Elvis and when, but a flier created by family said she was last heard from about 3 a.m. Dec. 17 and she was last seen about 2 a.m. that day at a home off River Oaks Drive.
In a Facebook page managed by the family, Elvis father Terry Elvis, said sleep is fleeting and he continues to pray for his daughter to return home.
My family is hurting, our hearts are heavy, he said. Christmas has been filled with pain and Heather is still not home.
There is a $10,000 reward for information leading to finding Elvis. The family has also set up a reward donation account with a PayPal account under
FindHeatherElvis@gmail.com.
We are not asking for donations, but will not refuse any help we can get to add to the reward and help with efforts to find our daughter, Elvis said on the Facebook page.
On Friday, the reward was increased to $20,000, according to an updated flier.
Monica Caison, director of CUE, said the search will likely change Friday to include more ground.
Kegler said there was no sign that she was in the water, even though her vehicle was a the boat landing.
Horry County, Myrtle Beach and state authorities have participated in the search with helicopters, boats and feet on the ground.
Caison said the search has been constant and some volunteers spent Christmas looking for Elvis.
Tips could help. Caison said people out on the water, or in the area should report anything that seems suspicious to police.
Anything that doesnt fit that looks like its fresh, call law enforcement, Caison said. I know it seems like an eternity for the family, but she hasnt been missing that long. Anything that looks like its been out there a week could be a clue.
Additionally, Caison said anyone who may have seen or been in contact with Elvis after Dec. 17 that hasnt already spoke with police, should call law enforcement.
Elvis is 5 feet 1 inch tall, weighs about 118 pounds and has brown hair and brown eyes.
