I know LE needs to be very careful when doing arrests and handling cases overall, but it's so frustrating!

Elisa and Adam are both under arrest....just not for Zahra. Now where did I put those TUMS???????????

I hope you have a few of those TUMS to share with me, teh. Today has been beyond agonizing with this case :-((((

WHERE IS BEAUTIFUL, BRAVE, PRECIOUS LITTLE ZAHRA?

Police found a mattress matching the description of one they are looking for in connection with the disappearance of 10-year-old Zahra Baker, law enforcement officials told Channel 9.

~snip~

However, on Tuesday, officials said a mattress found matches the description of the one they’re looking for and will be tested at state labs for DNA evidence.

Also on Tuesday, investigators began searching along Christie Road in Caldwell County. They blocked off an approximately two-mile stretch of Christie Road on Tuesday morning and began searching there. The area is about seven miles away from where investigators searched on Monday.

Since EB has a lawyer I am going to assume that her lawyer would not let the police take her here, there, and everywhere unless there was going to be some promised or assumed promise to benefit EB. I keep trying to remember this amongst the news of the "wild goosechases" and I can't come up with any reasonable theory on why EB would be leading LE to so many search sites.

Did evidence really get dumped at so many places? Or is EB just toying with LE and her lawyer?

While frustrated, I would like to say that LE ARE doing a great job so far. I know we can't get all the details, and I guess an arrest for other charges is better than nothing.

Yes, they have them right where they want them.

TehCloser:

I know they are both under arrest for other things, but what I meant was WHY NOT FOR ZAHRA??

Elisa is obviously aware of what happened to Zahra---why else would she be escorted along LE searches?

How much evidence of her involement do they need? (Frankly, her admitting to writing the ransom note is HUGE if you ask me).

I'm not teh but I'll throw my thoughts out there :D

1. They may have probable cause to charge her this very minute for the homicide of Zahra.

2. Do they have enough evidence to bring forth the charge, and which charge under the Homicide statute do they have evidence for? Murder 1, Murder 2, Voluntary Manslaughter, Involuntary manslaughter?....etc......

3. Once she has been charged the clock starts ticking. LE only has so many days to present supporting evidence to take it to trial. KWIM?

Just a few thoughts. JMHO.

As long as she's talking and giving them useful info, they won't arrest her on new (murder) charges, imo. They also have to have enough evidence to make those charges stick. LE being very careful here, as they should.

Exactly! I'm sure there are a lot of matteress that match the description of Zahra's. This one will have to be tested before any confirmation will be given that it is HERS.

In rural areas a lot of poor people will use illegal dump sites to get rid of trash, furniture, appliance, useless cars because they cannot pay to have them removed and taken to a legal dump site. these areas could be areas that AB&EB have used before. JMO.

I don't know Dubbs personally, but if EB is toying with her. IMHO EB is biting off more than she can chew. YIKES! JMHO.

lol, but that's what I was thinking while destroying the house looking for TUMS. I really think right now the clock starting is the biggie. I know it seems like it's been forever already...but really, as cases like this go, it's just the beginning.

Hey mods - slighty off topic, and not sure if this have been previously discussed, but I just noticed that Zahra's middle name is listed as "Claire" here, while most media sources have it listed as "Clare." Could someone kindly clarify? I think it's important, especially with respect to beautiful Zahra, that we have this correct. :)

Sorry if this has been mentioned, I am still catching up.

Is it possible EB is helping them find the mattress? I can't imagine her taking them to a body, as it will obviously incriminate her.

Maybe EB said she forgets where they dumped the mattress and is helping them look for it?

Ahh, IDK. This case just takes the cake.

It doesn't incriminate her if they are now scrambling for "I didn't kill her I just helped with the disposal and I will cooperate" position. The evidence may not show clearly which of the two actually killed her, especially if they both admit handling the clean up.

I think it should also be noted that right now all they can say is that it is a mattress that "matches" hers. The mattresses or pieces they took from the landfill also likely "matched" (this would be why they took them or pieces of them).

It's not real likely that her name was written on the mattress, so until the lab confirms it, there is no guarantee they have the right mattress.

Maybe someone else that wasn't very smart helped her move the mattress. Or even if AB did ......

My brother for instance would never know the difference. He'd grab a mattress and fling it onto a truck and go on his way. That's just how he is (and I've commented before AB is A LOT Like him from what I've seen)

AND ....IME there are huge differences in mattress types. There is everything from a thin foam bunk mattress (which you are not hiding a body in) to a latex foam pillow top (which is what I currently have on my bed and with how much it weighs there could be TWO bodies in there and I wouldn't know it).

I can't believe that we are sitting here contemplating ways to hide a dead body in a matress. WS sure does provide a wide and varied education. :waitasec:

Maybe she found out AB took her off his FB and is now going to roll on him. That's my hope anyway!

Zahra - where are you sweetie!

MOO

Mel

I have been wondering about that. I have seen it printed both ways in various media sources, is it Clare or Claire?

Over a dozen investigators aided by canine units combed a new search site near Christie Road and Pine Mountain Road on Tuesday in connection with the disappearance of 10-year-old Zahra Baker.
Evidence markers dot the search site. According to police, those markers don’t necessarily mean evidence has been found at the site, but instead they let investigators know which grids they have searched and which areas they still need to search.

~another snip~

Hickory police say Elisa Baker has been talking with investigators since Sunday and has provided some leads into the search.
Crews say they will wrap up the search at 5 p.m. due to concerns about wind and rain. Officials say they will secure the scene and return on Wednesday if they don’t find anything by the end of the day Tuesday.

Her middle name is definitely Clare.

Arrest her for what? Without DNA evidence or a body Zahra could have been abducted by aliens.

They will not arrest until they know they have a case they feel can be prosecuted.

Respectfully bolded by me :)

Yes, I agree they will not charge for Zahra until it can be successfully prosecuted (or they feel that it stands a good chance, a real good chance IMHO)

IMHO though they dont' need DNA and they don't need remains to prosecute. A good majority of trials have circumstantial evidence. If that circumstantial evidence can be presented and the jury come away without reasonable doubt then she can found guilty. All JMHO.
