You got it!!!! Casey IS the ultimate "indefensible" client!! In other words, the writing is on the wall and Andrea Lyon knows it. This is not about money.....this is about the great liklihood that Casey could receive the death penalty. JMO....

Is Mason a death penalty attorney? Cuz if he isn't, they have to find someone else. And mom, what happens if Mason leaves (if he is death qualified)?

Well, honestly since Cheney is now the lead Death Penalty qualified attorney on this case, I don't think Casey stands a chance of getting LWOP. Hate to admit it, and I didn't like her (AL) personally, but she is a helluva attorney and advocate for anything anti-death penalty. Her being on the team was at times a bit worrisome to me. Now, not so much. Justice for Caylee!!

I suspect that her departure was planned for quite a while. I suspect that Mason was added to the team becasue a death penalty lawyer would be needed. That's JMO it may be entirely wrong but I doubt that she jumped based on one "flub" by co counsel.

Let's remember all the emphasis that AL has placed on "family contact" in mitigation. The recent letters demonstrate a clear case of that NOT happening.

THis is not about $$$$$$....she has made tons (in advertising and publicity) through this case. This IMO is about a discord in the team. Why would JB want to admit that there is internal strife with the defense team?? Perhaps his comment about $$$$$ was an insult to AL in a "backward sort of way"??

What happens with "Mort" now?...guess CA will be losing the only "PI" she now trusts! :woohoo:

The defense doesn't have to look far for another death penalty expert.

New Anthony attorney Chaney Mason will fill those shoes, and Baez said Lyon will still consult with the defense team.

I think that this is a mix of:

1. A clash of personality/style between AL and Cheney

2. AL not being well received in the Florida courts

3. AL realization she is on a path towards a Lose-Lose

4. $$$$$$, the indigent fees do not cover her high priced costs

I think AL probably told her. However, that means CM is now the "mitigation specialist" also. Maybe he just wants to steer clear of KC until she settles down a bit and let JB continue the smoothing over phase. Really do hope the Court appoints another DP qualified attorney to help CM out. That is how it works here anyway, who knows in Florida.

A source close to the Casey Anthony investigation tells WESH 2 News that death penalty defense attorney Andrea Lyon is leaving Anthony’s defense team. The source said Lyon made her intentions known more than a week ago.

I completely agree else this has to be a MAJOR blow to the Defense, which has been more focused on sentencing than the trial.

Wonder if the mitigation specialist, Jeanene B went there to tell the Inmate that she and Lyon and Mort and the spokesperson are leaving?
