2022 Hurricane and Tropical Weather

Oh goodness they're in for a frightening time.

People in the affected areas, which include the popular resort town of Puerto Vallarta and other coastal towns in Jalisco, Nayarit and Sinaloa, were urged to complete hurricane preparations because of strong winds. The hurricane is expected to make landfall on Sunday morning.

This link now goes to an updated story titled "After Landfall, Roslyn Moves Inland in Mexico as a Tropical Storm."

Referring to the 3rd storm in the article:

This system — a disorganized group of showers and thunderstorms about 700 miles east of the Windward Islands — is potentially of greatest concern, but whether a threat will materialize is uncertain.

The National Hurricane Center estimates a 20 percent chance of development in the next five days, but that chance could grow. The system will not even move into the southeastern Caribbean until the late-Thursday or early-Friday time frame.

Nicole has her own thread now:

I swear, whoever made Mother Nature mad, needs to quit already!!!

The 2022 Atlantic hurricane season produced 14 named storms, eight of which were hurricanes, and two of which were major hurricanes.

The next named storm of the season would be Owen.

“Owen is likely this week. No threat to land.

How incredible! Thankfully it won’t pose a threat to land.

FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. — The friends and family of James ‘Denny’ Hurst gathered on Friday evening to celebrate his life and distribute his final remains.

Hurst was the last person reported missing from Hurricane Ian. He was found by Lee County Sheriff’s Office divers in January. A month later, his daughter flew across the country from California to honor her father’s last wishes.

Sadly, this is not uncommon after a hurricane. There should never be homes in flood zones to begin with. A decade from now there still won't be resolution for the poor and elderly. They'll have moved away or passed away. Homeowners insurance in a flood zone is nearly impossible to afford, even if you can find it.

Yes, I saw that with Irma, folks lost everything, and at 80 years old, few people had resources to start over. The lucky ones had family to live with.
