A prosecutor for the Norfolk Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office said in a previous court hearing that police found drug residue during a search of Hadsell’s hotel room in March.

During their investigation, police found heroin they think belonged to Hadsell, sent it to the Virginia Division of Forensic Science where technicians confirmed it was, in fact, heroin.

Southampton County, Va. - Law-enforcement sources are telling NewsChannel 3 that investigators in April used tracking data stored inside a GPS taken from Wesley Hadsell’s work van to find his adopted daughter’s body.

Our sources said that when they examined that data, it led them directly to a house on Smiths Ferry Road in Southampton County. There, on April 9, Norfolk police and other agents assisting them found human remains later identified as those of Anjelica “AJ” Hadsell. She had been missing a month and was the subject of a massive search.

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Wesley Hadsell plead guilty to a federal weapons charge in court Thursday afternoon. Sentencing for Hadsell can range between no jail time and a life sentencing.

Hadsell has been charged and indicted a number of other times over the last 12 months, including a possession of heroine charge from Oct. 7 and an obstruction of justice charge this past spring.

Hadsell, 37, is the adoptive father of AJ Hadsell who disappeared last year and was later found dead. Police charged him after they searched his Norfolk hotel room while looking for AJ. Investigators later found her remains in Southampton County on April 9.

Police have not named any suspects in AJ’s death at this time.

In a motion filed Thursday, Hadsell’s public defender Keith Kimball requested for leave to withdraw as his counsel.

Kimball states that another client represented by the same office has come forward with information as well as interests “adverse to those of Mr. Hadsell.”

Wesley Hadsell was set to be sentenced March 18, after he pleaded guilty to a federal weapons charge last November.

There’s no word if his sentencing will be postponed.

In case you have forgotten why we cast so many aspersions on WH, here is a brief reminder, according to the prosecution:

"Friday’s filing from prosecutors describes a man who has lied about his drug use, paying child support and the age at which he started stealing (12). The filing says he burglarized a Williamsburg McDonald’s at 17, broke into a North Carolina home three years later and robbed a BB&T branch in Fredericksburg in 2007.

It was that year, prosecutors say, that Hadsell’s ex-wife accused him of attacking, choking and raping her before he kidnapped her a day or two later to do it again and again for two weeks. While he kept her, he threatened to kill her family, leaving her too traumatized to pursue charges, prosecutors said. The case was dropped.

While locked up for bank robbery, prosecutors said, Hadsell set a fire, made threats, destroyed property and had intoxicants.

It was also the longest time Hadsell had gone without being arrested for a new crime, whether it was forgery, failing to appear in court, reckless driving or contributing to the delinquency of a minor."

I wish he would rot in jail. He certainly will rot in hell. And read the last lines of the article:

"jail phone call caught him talking specifically about loading “two 9 mm pistols over and over and I cocked them and locked them and dropped the shells all over my room. I enjoyed it,” he said. “I wanted to kill that kid.”

Wesley Hadsell indicted on rape charges in Ohio
July 23 2016

NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- A man whose adoptive daughter went missing and was later found dead is now facing charges of rape in Ohio.

Norfolk Police say the Delaware County, Ohio Prosecuting Attorney’s Office informed them that on July 20, a Grand Jury in Delaware County indicted Wesley Hadsell on two counts of Rape, one count of Kidnapping and one count of Felonious Assault.

These indictments stem from an incident that occurred in Ohio in 2005.

No other details of these new charges are available at this time.

Man re-indicted in 11-year-old rape and assault case

Prosecutors said this case was a re-indictment from a 2005 case.

Court documents from the 2005 case indicate on Aug. 21, 2005, Hadsell restrained, raped and physically harmed a woman.

The case was prosecuted by then-county Prosecutor David Yost and then-assistant prosecutor Marianne Hemmeter and dismissed when Hadsell was indicted by the U.S. Attorney General’s office on robbery charges. He was reportedly sentenced to 54 months in jail for a bank robbery in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

An arraignment date for Hadsell has not yet been set in Delaware County Common Pleas Court.
