The girl became seriously ill and was admitted to hospital.

The mother later posted messages on a Facebook page to draw sympathy for her daughter's plight.

I am still looking for updates re court appearance and sentencing of the mother.
How does one ever find out about these things in the long term....the media often don't do follow ups.
I followed this case and never have forgotten. I just don't know how to find info about it now...nothing seems to be reported.
I would love to know what became of the mother in terms of charges/sentencing etc.

A GIRL who was poisoned with chemo drugs by her mother has started school and taken up dancing classes as doctors give her a clean bill of health.

As her mum faces sentencing this week, the five-year-old’s grandmother said she was indistinguishable from the rest of her Prep classmates

“She’s at school, she’s dancing. She does tap, jazz and ballet,’’ the grandmother said.

“She’s a perfect little girl. There has been a clean bill of health from the specialists.’’

The 22-year-old mother, who cannot be identified, has been in custody since her arrest in April last year. She had pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm and is due to be sentenced tomorrow

Mum who fed young daughter cancer drugs over 10 months knew they could kill her, court told

A YOUNG mum callously force fed her four-year-old daughter toxic cancer drugs over a 10-month period to garner attention, with the full knowledge they could kill her.

The Brisbane District Court was told the 23-year-old Gold Coast mother-of-two deliberately made he daughter deathly ill and set up a Facebook page to highlight her daughter’s bogus life-threatening condition to reap donations and admiration.

The court was told the woman revelled in the attention lavished on her and her child and as a result continued to ply her with hundreds of potentially lethal tablets — a form of chemotherapy medication used to treat cancer sufferers — she bought online from Canada.

The mum, who cannot be named to protect her daughter’s identity, today pleaded guilty to causing the child grievous bodily harm at Arundel, on the northern tip of the Gold Coast, between August 3, 2012, and April 11, 2013, and has been jailed for six years.

Having already served 14-months in pre-sentence custody the woman will be eligible to parole on April 10 next year.

What a whack job! This 'person' does not deserve to call herself a mother. She should be ashamed of herself. Unfortunately, I don't know if our laws and court system will be adequate enough to give her the sentence she deserves - life in prison. I also hope she doesn't get to hide behind mental illness - this child is so close to death, and if she does survive, it will only be by pure luck and the expertise of the medical staff treating her.

Seems like she will only spend 2 yrs in jail. I understand your feelings of anger, every time I read these stories I become enraged and have to talk myself down.
I have 3 grown children and I was beside myself whenever they were ill, to intentionally poison your child/ren which is just another form of abuse, like beatings, torture, starvation, is beyond my apprehension.

Why is Munchhausen by proxy sufferers treated different than an abuser? I don't understand the sympathy garnered for them. Anyone who abuses a child or an animal even, is an unfeeling and destructive being who deserves no sympathy and should suffer the full force of the law. My opinion only, sorry if I cause offence.
