Marissa DeVault update: Prosecutors rest case in hammer killing trial

PHOENIX - Prosecutors rested their case Thursday at the trial of an Arizona woman accused of fatally bludgeoning her husband with a hammer.

Attorneys for Marissa Suzanne Devault will begin presenting their case Monday.

Devault claims she killed her husband, Dale Harrell, in self-defense and told investigators that he had physically and sexually abused her in the past.

But authorities contend the January 2009 attack on Harrell was premeditated and say Devault has given conflicting accounts of her husband's death.

Authorities also say the people Devault alleged were witnesses to the past abuse didn't back up her claims.

Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.

Harrell died at a hospice nearly a month after the attack of complications from his head injuries.

The trial began in early February.

Thank you Nymeria for posting that. I agree, it's nice to see it even if it's only a snippet. One thing I noticed is the way she was whispering in her attny's ear like she was seducing him. Rather creepy and very telling.

Yes, you can tell she thinks she is quite a femme fatale.

Marissa, JA, Andrea Schneiderman, Amanda Hayes....
Never ceases to amaze me how many women on trial have this much self confidence that they can get anything done by using their "feminine wiles".
Also never ceases to amaze me how average looking they usually are.
Not slamming their looks, all of them could probably be dolled up and look "hot".
But when they are broke down to their basics, not like they are what you would call jaw dropping beauties.

Ohhhh to have the outlook and confidence of a sociopath.....minus that little "kill others for my own gain (or pleasure)" hitch.... :facepalm:
 
Looks like the daughter is going to corroborate part of her mother's defense when she testifies later this month.
