article that is related to another case, but says that this person is the first to be charged under a new law that was put into effect after Brooke's murder. i like the sentencing requirements!!! hopefully, they stick and HAVE to serve at least their terms....

from the article:
"The charge of aggravated sexual assault on someone younger than 16 was created by the Vermont Legislature in their most recent term in response to the June 2008 slaying of Brooke Bennett of Braintree.

Anyone convicted of the charge would face a mandatory minimum sentence of 25 years in prison and a maximum penalty of life in prison.

Williams was charged with the crime less than a week after it was signed into law by Gov. James Douglas.

Other charges against Williams have mandatory minimum penalties or are punishable by life in prison. The lewd-and-lascivious conduct charges carry minimum mandatory penalties of two years in prison and the sexual assault charges are punishable by up to life imprisonment"
 
Brooke deserved so much better and so much more.

OMG it does look like a perv glamor shot! I thought it was an advertisement for the website at first. I hope he does get the DP and that the state of Vermont is quick to carry it out. This is one of the most disgusting crimes that I've read about on WS.

on top of being murdered by her uncle, and set up by her cousion for it (who heserlf is a long time victim of the uncle) you get the added bonus of her stepfather essentially trying to frame her for her own murder by making it look like she ran away with some perv from myspace. what a warped bunch of sickos.

just thinking about our dear Brooke today and came across a recent article re: Jaques trying to have the DP taken off of the table because it's "discriminatory". i swear, just when i think i can't hate this jerk anymore, i read about what a whining coward he is. i hope that none of this flies, if anyone deserves the DP, it's him.

I say shut the ...(self-censored) up! Fine you don't want the DP...LWOP with hard labor works for me. Just get this guy done and throw away the key.

Vermont's unlikely to execute in any event AND he'd just waste time and resources whining about it.
 
I still think his wife should be charged with something....she knew what he was doing to her daughter....that alone is enough.

Thanks joga, part of me wants to read this, yet part of me is afraid to know any more than I already do. But, I guess since Brooke went though it, the least I can do is read it and weep...........literally.

Is there a link to the 91 page response or are you referring to the News article with disturbing information? I don't see the 91 page response. Thanks for any help. I've been following this case from the beginning and hope that this monster gets death as he so rightly deserves.

sorry about that, should have been more clear. i was just referring to the article, it says that he sexually abused her over a 12 hour period before he killed her. i don't think the actual response has been made public, at least i couldn't find it. i don't know if i could handle the disgusting details...
 
article about ex-stepdad Gagnon pleading guilty to child *advertiser censored* charges in Alabama. i fully believe he had knowledge of what happened to Brooke and i don't understand why he hasn't been charged as some sort of accomplice. maybe, just maybe if he would have immediately notified police when he starting hearing from Jaques that day, she could have been saved. but i think he lived vicariously through Jaques that day...i don't understand how these sickos find each other...
