Such a weird case.
I do wonder if both girls were taken at the same time? By whom? Not much details.
 
According to this article, Anna and Nelly are cousins. IMO The location of Anna's body near Nelly's home indicates that someone in that area is involved. Is anyone over 18 missing, I wonder?

Hermina Inda, who has lived for six months in the triplex near where Anna’s body was found, said the girl’s cousin, Nelly Espinosa, lives in the upstairs unit but has been missing for a week. Inda said Nelly, 12, lives with her mother, a brother, and her mother’s boyfriend.

There was a vigil for AH held a few hours ago. The images of the two girls together, especially when they were younger, broke my heart!

The Grant Hill community appears to be coming together as best they can in support of the families. I haven't personally heard of a third girl until now (thank you to my fellow WSers :sleuth: )

Also of note, there have been two spellings in MSM of Nelly's surname (Espinoza and Espinosa). I'm :confused: as to which is correct.

Tijuana is practically a suburb of San Diego, so it makes sense that Tijuana police would be involved, especially if another girl was found there. But I can imagine SDPD asking for help in Tijuana even if another girl hadn't been found there. Plenty of people living in SD have family in Tijuana, and residents of Tijuana commute to SD for work, so there is a lot of interconnection. There also may be some online evidence that Nelly went there. JMO
 
This article has more information. I'm glad to see that Anna's family has been offered support. This is devastating.

“It’s horrible. She was just a little girl,” said Sonjia Viruegas, 46, of City Heights, who belongs to Mothers with a Message, a support group for women suffering the violent loss of a child. She said the group has reached out to help Anna’s family.

A 14 year old junior is pretty unusual. This article says that she recently transferred from High Tech High School to San Diego High School. Someone from her old high school mentioned that she had gotten in with a bad crowd but was a good person. I wonder if the change to a different high school was to get away from the bad crowd, or closer to it. The new highschool is closer to her home than the old one.

Thanks for posting the pictures and latest information.

Those pictures of Anna and Nelly brought tears to my eyes.
So beautiful and so young -- two happy young girl friends.

Whoever took Anna's precious life must be caught.
It's an outrage and such a tragedy.

:praying: Praying Nelly is found soon, and unharmed.

Praying for Anna's and Nelly's families, their loved ones, neighbors and friends.

What? A 3rd girl? I hope not!

Merging the two threads would make it easier. From what I've surmised, no one seems sure the two girls were together when they went missing.

Local CBS News6 just did a segment from the vigil. They seemed to mention the girls weren't really reported missing to LE from their families. Is that true? It would explain why we didn't hear about these missing girls until Anna's remains were found.
But why wouldn't they be reported missing at only 12 and 14 yrs. old?

Tragic, the news said Anna was tortured, they used that word, before she was shot. Very upsetting.

Praying Nelly is found soon and unharmed.
 
The video here mentions the family of one of the girls received a odd phone call the day before they went missing. Correction from me -- Anna's family received a chilling phone call the day before her remains were found.

This video is full of questions about why the whole city was not aware sooner that these two girls were missing. It's a shame that whoever did this might have had a long head start to escape detection, but I have confidence LE will be successful in apprehending those responsible.

This video is worth watching for details.

Whoa, there is a 3rd girl. This is getting extremely confusing. I hope they locate the two missing girls soon and unharmed. I don't understand any of this yet.

Very sad about Anna and praying for her Family.
 
Checked out, using a satellite map, of the area where Anna's remains were found. I wonder if the SDG&E Sub Station or any of the businesses had cameras on that area for further evidence for when this goes to trial.

I'm sure word of mouth will help investigators a great deal in this case, and they will solve this.

Praying for Justice for Anna and her Family.
 
This case is very confusing - I hope LE find Nelly safely.
