CA CA - Bakersfield - Missing Juveniles: Ongoing General Discussion

Continuing to continue copying comments:

@sk716 : The majority of these are minorities, that lends towards trafficking. Bakersfield is a crossroads of sorts. Lure houses, maybe? Who's Bakersfield's biggest slumlord? Those would be the rentals to take a look at on paper/the internet.

@Ducky123 : Agree that this is a possibility for sure.

@Ducky123 : I think trafficking or running away would be a greater chance of occurring here than a systematic or random off the street kidnapping. With trafficking, I believe most victims enter into a situation or relationship for financial reasons - NOT implying this is ok or voluntary (and less often just snatched off the street or highway without warning). IMO

@Hexe : It might be trafficking, yes, many serial killers though do pick their victims from minorities and poor areas, as the LE tends to brush the minority kids off as runaways and their cases do not pick that much of media attention. I do not know which option is right now more probable, trafficking or a psycho, I just know that something stinks in Bakersfield.

It would be interesting to know if any of them knew one another. It’s possible that if these kids are being exploited, they may not have been aware initially. Did any of them have expensive things, or money that they would not normally have had access too? Maybe a new phone, or clothes. Did they suddenly become more secretive, or bolder prior to their disappearance? It’s possible these kids are involving other kids they know, maybe they’re paid per name? They’d be unlikely at this stage to be aware of the terrible danger they’re in.

Thank you for doing all of that work, it's very helpful to see it all in one place without hopping around.

There are two with the same last name that disappeared from the same block one year apart.

Then there's these two.

Pretty sure this list could be updated with a few more names. This is horrible. How hasn't an alphabet agency gotten involved in this? There are waaaaaay too many missing to ignore.

It's been a few months since I posted the last list so here's a new one.

When this thread was established we were hoping that we would be able to find a pattern that would give insight into the epidemic of missing Bakersfield teens. Almost two years later we don't have any answers. Bakersfield PD issues a press release when they go missing, and there is rarely any follow-up in MSM.

Bakersfield PD doesn't post missing people on social media. The Kern County Sheriff's Office used to post missing people on Facebook, but they no longer do so. There is nowhere to go for updates. Very rarely is a missing Bakersfield teen listed with NCMEC, and they are rarely included in the CA Attorney General's missing person archive. Apparently Bakersfield PD doesn't submit their data to NCMEC or to the Attorney General.

What happens to these kids? How many of them go home voluntarily? How many are found on the streets and returned to their families or to CPS? How many are included in the nameless statistics of children who are rescued from trafficking, or who are trafficked and not located? How many are found deceased, but their deaths are not reported in MSM? I mention this last category because of sad information I found about one of the missing boys, that I was not able to post on WS without violating the TOS.

I want to give you one example.

There was a boy who went missing in late 2021 who actually had an NCMEC page and was listed in the CA Attorney General's missing archive. He was a HS athlete who seemed to be highly regarded by his teachers and fellow students. In late Nov 2021 his aunt posted on the Bakersfield Now FB page that he had phoned her to tell her that he was OK, but he wouldn't tell her where he was. She said that he had lived with her for many years and had always been a good kid. She was extremely worried about him and pleaded with anyone who saw him to talk to him and to tell him to contact her again. In mid-Dec she posted again with the sad news that she had received a call from Bakersfield PD telling her that he had been found in downtown Bakersfield, deceased from a drug overdose. She was devastated. Several days later a friend of the aunt posted that the aunt was having a difficult time and that a page had been established to raise money for the boy's funeral.

I wanted to post the information about his death to his WS thread, but I couldn't find mention of it in MSM, and couldn't quote his aunt's or her friend's comments because of TOS. The fund-raising page gave a lot of information. The aunt told about how he had been removed from his parents' custody when he was small, and she took him in and raised him with her children. They had previously lived in Los Angeles, and that was where she wanted him to be buried. There were testimonials to him on the fund-raising page from two of his school friends and from one of his former teachers.

I contacted a WS mod and asked for permission to post the facts from the fund-raising page since it was the only source of information (as is sometimes done) but they were not able to give me permission. I was corresponding with one of the WS forum coordinators, and she and I both looked high and low for an MSM source. I even scanned through the Bakersfield newspapers starting with the date before the aunt was notified and continuing for a week after his death. I was looking for an item about a nameless teen being found dead in downtown Bakersfield, but there was no such item in the newspaper. Is this such a common occurrence that it doesn't get reported in the news?

While we were searching for an acceptable item to post, his NCMEC page and his listing with the CA Attorney General were removed, so his thread on WS was cancelled. I'm sure that most people seeing that his thread had been removed were happy to see that he had been found, never knowing in what condition he had been found. How many others are there like him?

Two months after his thread was canceled, I saw a notice from a mortuary in Los Angeles announcing a visitation for him. Finally there was proof in MSM, but it came too late to post to his thread.
