CA CA - Jeff Joseph, 45, Hoopa, 21 June 2014

According to Chris Cook of Cook and Associates, the phone of Jeff Joseph, a Louisiana man who is believed missing in the area, last pinged off a cell tower in the Bloody Camp area of Hoopa on June 21 about 11:20 a.m.

I'm not sure this map will work, but it shows a Verizon cell tower near Hoopa, south of Weitchpec. It's in an area called Jones Point. I haven't found a Bloody Camp in the area, but this is the only cell tower near Hoopa.

From the above link

Scanner traffic on Saturday evening indicated that skeletal remains were found in a waterway near Burr Valley Road. The exact details were difficult to determine and the Lost Coast Outpost has a request into the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office for more information.

Well that is a relief. I was worried that he somehow he met up with the fugitive, Shane Miller by accident.

I just watched John Adams new show The Hunt and everyone is looking for this guy.

According to the latest update, the remains are likely from someone who died within the first few months of this year. I think that would put Danielle Bertolini and Sheila Franks at the top of the list, if the remains turn out to be a woman. This has got to be agony for their families. :(

As of this point, even the sex of the skeleton has not yet been confirmed so attempts to identify the individual could take some time. Right now, Horton said, the Coroner’s Office is gathering descriptions of people missing who may have been in the area in order to be prepared, hopefully, to match the description with the information about the remains that the anthropologist is able to provide.

Horton said family members of several missing persons have already been in touch with his office.

I think you mean John Walsh. It sounds like a good show.

Some people commenting on LoCO about the skeletal remains are hoping that it IS Shane Miller!

His sister, who did not want her name published, told us he had left his uncle's home in Chatsworth on June 20 in his 1998 green Rav4. She said he intended to visit a "farm" in Humboldt County, California, which is part of the largest marijuana growing region in the United States, an area often referred to as the Emerald Triangle.

One person from that farm has subsequently left the state, and another changed his number, according to a man who identified himself as Joseph's cousin. The family has hired a private investigator.

The Humboldt County Sheriff's Office has a detective on the case, too, a spokesman said. Humboldt County has been inundated with drug-related crime and missing persons cases in recent years, he said. "We have so many missing people," the spokesman said. "We've had two homicides in the last four days. Our homicide and missing persons rate per-capita is like that of Oakland or Detroit."

Nothing new according to a post on FB September 2. LE hasn't searched the property he was heading for because he never arrived. I wonder how they know that? Of course, they can't get a search warrant without a reason.

Family and friends of Jeff Joseph, a former marijuana collective owner now missing in our area, offered a $5000 reward for information leading to him and to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons involved in his disappearance, said Heather Miller, an advocate working with the Nor-Cal Alliance for the Missing...

Robert Joseph has almost given up hope of finding his cousin. “Three months with no word,” he said. “We don’t expect to find him alive. We just want to find out what happened”...

Citing what she called, ” a general lack of urgency from anyone official,” Miller, the family’s advocate, hopes that the reward will generate new leads in the case.

Family on FB just posted "to please say a prayer for those involved in looking for Jeff." They also said that LE hasn't really looked for Jeff over these past months, but feel confident in the new direction the case has taken.

Maybe they hired a PI?
