I hope they find her soon. This doesn't look good at all. Have there been any reports about a boyfriend or if anyone has noticed anyone trying to pick up girls in the area?

We get reports of attempted kidnappings here several times a week. But I did remember one in the same county from the end of May.

From about 40mins away (which may seem "far" but it isn't when you live here) A man attempted to kidnap 2 high school students in a blue Jeep Cherokee

Also from the same county as Norma, back in January:

At the end of June a man tried to abduct a 5 year old in nearby Corona at the end of June

In Nearby LA a man tried to kidnap a 10 year old on July 3rd

Local news just reported it again, absolutely no new information, no reporter talking to LE, no news of any organization of a search, no press conference. Sigh. They are saying they believe she was kidnapped, and yet the response by the community/media is as if nothing happened.

Evidence of abduction found for missing SoCal teen

Deputies and detectives on Saturday searched for a Southern California teen girl missing for a third day, and authorities said evidence points to an abduction.

Personal items belonging to 17-year-old Norma Lopez and signs of a struggle were discovered by investigators in a field the girl often used as a shortcut, Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Joe Borja said. He would not give further details on the evidence.

Did they not have enough info on the vehicle to issue an alert?

I guess a ground search would be difficult at best, as she was probably driven out of the area..but they should be making people across the state, etc. aware of the vehicle description, if they have one. What a helpless feeling for the family.

Police search door to door for missing teenSaturday, July 17, 2010

MORENO VALLEY, Calif. (KABC) -- Police and volunteers went on a door-to-door search in Riverside County on Saturday for information on a missing teenager who may have been taken against her will.

Volunteers also searched a dirt area on horseback Friday night looking for any sign of Norma Lopez.

The 17-year-old from Moreno Valley went to summer school Thursday morning at Valley View High School. Lopez was supposed to meet her sister and a friend at home but did not return.

The green SUV in question was seen speeding out of the area, but thats all they know about it. Last I heard they just wanted to speak to the owner to rule them out.

I know they did at least one search, and are putting up signs and going door to door, what bothers me I guess is the media. Her face should be all over the place, and instead they did a brief 3 minute piece. Ever since I moved here I noticed that there is just so much crazy stuff that happens they don't have enough time to cover it all. But I think if this had happened somewhere else, the local media there would be all over this.

This girl was abducted, why is there so little on her in the news?

That field looks huge! I was expecting something much smaller, like maybe the size of a corner lot. So the SUV would either have to be on Dracaea or Cottonwood, right? :waitasec:

A $2,100 reward is being offered for information in the case of Norma Lopez, a 17-year-old Moreno Valley girl missing since Thursday.

Mike Rios, a Moreno Valley resident who ran for city council in 2008, has been soliciting donations from the community for the reward. More information is available at mikerios4mv.wordpress.com.

Meanwhile, the Lopez family released a new photo of Norma which shows her in the black and white striped shirt she was wearing when she was last seen.

That field does look huge....and terribly secluded.....not good at all, I'm afraid.

Did you take the little person and do street view ? It gives a whole new perspective. Looks like new constructed homes going in but I do not know how old the Google view is.
It looks like two little dirt roads on either side of the field, and at the culdesac on Dracaea Ave it backs up to little hills.

I believe someone had been watching her and knew her routine.....jmo

ETA: when I googled out it shows the houses complete ....

Does anyone know how to bring over the current picture of her from the support thread? She looks different and is wearing the same shirt that she had on the day she went missing.

I see Ruby got it !! Thanks :blowkiss:

"We do not believe she's a runaway. If we did believe that, we wouldn't be here today," Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Joe Borja told reporters at a news conference Friday.

Police want help.

Anyone having information regarding the disappearance, kidnapping, or current whereabouts of Norma Lopez are urged to contact the Riverside Sheriff's Dispatch Center at (951) 776-1099 or (877) 242-4345.

This is just an opinion:

I simply don't see how this could be random.
First: someone had to have known that these summer school kids got out at a certain time, that they traveled this way, that they would cut through this dirt field.
Second: someone had to have known that the number of kids travelling across that field would be so few, or that Norma would be traveling essentially alone, or they wouldn't dare risk abducting her from THAT location.
Third: the location. This isn't an easily accessable area.....the interstate and get away paths aren't super easy to find and super close to the abduction site. That makes me think that there is another location where she was being taken...a home most likely.....but that it was done by someone local.....someone who knew the area and possibly knew (or knew of) Norma specifically.
Norma is absolutely stunning. I can't help but think that someone else saw how georgeous she is and has harmed her because of that. I pray I am wrong....but in the mean time, I would like to search local sex offenders and, equally important, I don't think this is the first time this person has followed or seen Norma. I wonder if she told her friends about anyone following her, about anyone calling her or about seeing the same person again and again.

This girl was abducted, why is there so little on her in the news?

Watching the local news now, so far no mention of her. She isn't even on the front page of any of the local news websites.
