Identified! CA - Pogonip, WhtFem remains 716UFCA, 12-18, Jan'94 - Kori Lamaster

Nationwide, nearly 4,000 young women reported missing match Pogonip Jane's basic description, according to Christopher Smith, a lawyer and volunteer in the corner's unit at the Sheriff's Office.

Jane is not one of them.

Does this mean that there are almost 4000 rule-outs? Anyone wanna type all those in the Rule Out thread? LOL

I'm in Northern CA and that Espinoza girl looks *exactly* like one of my young employees. I'm fairly certain it's not her (I mean, she has a different name and I did copy her photo ID for her I-9), but I'm going to look for a tattoo on Monday just in case! ;)

Well, this little gal is only 4'7", the doe is listed as 5'4", that's quite a difference.

Yes, but since Rachanda was only 13 when she went missing about three years before the UID was killed, she might well have grown that much. That means she would have been 16, well within the range.

Here's the side by side. The shape of the eyes seems a little different, but that might be just because of the difference in smile. Everything else seems to match quite well.

And since the shape of Pogonip Jane's eyes is an estimation in a recon based on skeletal remains, it should not be taken as a perfect depiction.

Well, maybe I shall submit then... Thanks guys!

Ok how bout this one?

I have my biases as to who Aundria matches up to, so I'll withhold comment on this possible match.

Jane probably had braces as a kid and had a few cavities, which a dentist filled with porcelain, a forensic anthropologist determined.

In the last six months of her life, she traveled the Central Coast between Santa Barbara and Santa Cruz, according to isotopic hair analysis done at the University of Texas.

But that's where Jane's story ends.

Someone used a metal object -- probably a pipe -- to crush her skull above her right eye. Her naked body was buried under a young tree in a slight ravine about 50 feet from a homeless campsite

In 2009, a forensic anthropologist used cementum analysis -- a new scientific procedure where the tooth is cut and polished -- to count rings in one of Jane's teeth and calculate not only her age, but the time of year she died.

The results allowed detectives to change her estimated age to 17-19 years old and created new interest in an old lead, Smith said.

A young man came to the Sheriff's Office the year Jane was found and said he thought the remains might belong to his teenage sister, but his report wasn't pursued because his sister was too young for the age range investigators were looking at then, according to Smith. In the ensuing years, the brother's name and contact information was lost. All detectives remember is he worked at the now-defunct Baker's Square in Los Gatos. They're trying to locate old payroll records to track his name and find him, Smith said.

When I first saw the pictures of jane doe I immediatly thought of kristi krebs www.doenetwork.org/cases/808dfca.html It probably isn't her though as there is no metion of her having a tattoo and there is no mention of jane doe having her thumb dformation. She is also a little older. the resemblance is amazing to me though.

did not see a Namus link for this UID on here so I found it. no rule outs and it is missing most vital information.

not to embarass anyone, but whoever entered this information from Santa Cruz County did not know what he or she was doing. the person did not know how to enter things and left notes saying he or she needed someone else's help and no one ever edited the profile:

They have her height listed at 5 inches tall. I'm sure they meant 5 feet, but the height field is supposed to be expressed in inches. The NamUs automated matching system is going to have a hard time finding missing persons of any age who are 0'5" tall.

Thats so frustrating - such a simple error but one that makes this entry to the data bank meaning less....... this girl too is someone's daughter sister friend....

I wonder if Heather Mehloff has ever been compared to Pogonip Jane Doe.

Her casefile was just added to NamUs with no photo, but I found her photo online.

There is no indication that Heather has a heart-tattoo on the web of her hand.

It says "Sample Submitted, Tests Complete" in the DNA section of Heather's NamUs file, and Pogonip Jane Doe is in CODIS. So this is probably a rule-out by default, though you can never be sure just based on the "Sample Submitted ..." comment.
