CA CA - Speed Freak Killers (Shermantine talks; Herzog commits suicide)

Like I said on another thread . I have a gut feeling . This is only the tip of the iceberg. These two are linked to up to 15 at least. And herzog does look like the skecth of the one who took Michaela.

Prayers to the families of the victims as the investigators work tirelessly to recover and identify them.

I think we are about to receive some much needed information about some long cold cases. Many of them.

I am glad to find that we have a thread on this. I saw that they had recovered over 300 more bones. This was the same case where one of the defendants committed suicide in a trailer after LP contacted him.

Has anyone set up a list of possible victims?

It looks to me that their area of burial sites was from Sacramento to Stockton and Linden (all within a two hour drive). I was thinking to look for victims in that area, but then another site mentioned possible murder victims in Utah and Nevada. Did they leave some of them where they lay or bring them back to familiar grounds. Both male and female victims. Was there any type of pattern?

I think a list of possible victims would be a good idea.

I have been wondering, on the map that Shermantine provided, did he list names with the location?

From what I can gather no names just location where they buried the bodies. And he did not tell them how many thru would find.

So much for a list. I tried to start one and gave up. There are just too many.
I did print out some searches.

I found that in the 1980s -
CA has 93 missing
NV has 9 missing
UT has 7 missing
AZ has 8 missing
OR has 11 missing
WA has 18 missing

In these groups, there are a total of 30 missing children under the age of 16.
Is there any indication that they killed children?

They are also suspects in cases in the 1990s that I haven't searched through.

I think those are tables lined up there. It looks like two people seated at one of them. At first, I thought it might have been coffins.

Shermantine, who is on California’s death row, has bragged to investigators that there are also bodies in Utah, which according to one news report, includes a man that was shot by Herzog as he stood by his broken down car on the side of the road.

I apologize if that link is on this thread already.

I hadn't known that about the male in Utah. Wonder if that male was found after he was murdered or his body was hidden as well and he is listed as missing?

Too many SK's take their secrets to their grave, at least a few families will have their loved ones remains back. A cold comfort but still they can have them back. JMHO.

I read about the man in Utah in another article and wondered the same thing, Kat. It sounds as though either he was never found, or Shermantine doesn't know if he was ever found.

This is all hitting pretty close to home for me... I will start to follow along here.

This is a very good run down on possible victims. :(

eta: I'll add this comprehensive review of events as they stand today.

I'll also say-- I had ties to the area in San Andreas, Calaveras County, in the 1970's. It's one of my favorite places on earth... It just blows my mind that these two were carrying on their thrill killing at the same time Charles Ng and Leonard Lake had their torture and murder bunker fairly close by. Let's just say, it wouldn't be a surprise if these four were in the same bar/grocery store/driving the same stretch of road at the same time. Now, wouldn't that have been an interesting piece of serendipity?
