CANADA Canada - Carolyn Pruyser, 18, Peace River, AB, 17 May 1984

So many young women disappeared in Western Canada during the late 1970s and early 1980s. We know about the highway of tears, but that isn't the only place where women disappeared and were murdered. The highway of tears victims were both Indigenous and non-Indigenous, and many were abducted while hitchhiking. Many young missing and murdered women who are not related to the highway of tears were also hitchhiking.

Carolyn Pruyser vanished in May 1984 in Peace Rivier. McAstocker was responsible for missing girls and women near Calgary and Edmonton. That's 500 miles (Calgary) and 300 miles (Edmonton) from Peace River. It's not an easy connection to make unless he was in fact in Peace River on that day.

He was released from prison after an 11 year sentence starting around 1982-3. In 1994 he was re-arrested for another murder, just after he was released. Was Gary McAstocker in prison in May 1984? I don't see Gary McAstocker as a likely suspect in the disappearance of Carolyn Pruyser.

"A person of interest in MacLean’s murder was sex offender Gary McAstocker, 34. McAstocker hanged himself in 1994 in his Edmonton home hours before he was to be questioned by police in the suspected murder of a 14-year-old Edmonton girl, Tina McPhee, who disappeared a month earlier while walking to school.

He had just been released from prison after serving his full 11-year sentence for a 1982 rape and a subsequent 1988 sexual assault committed while on parole.

When someone has gone missing in such a remote location so long ago, we have no choice but to wait for bones to be found. I very much doubt that her body is in another country. At most, her bones will be within maybe 20, maybe 200, miles from where she disappeared. That's my best guess. It depends entirely on whether her abductor was local, or, as was common at the time, someone who was passing through.

Her last stop was at the gas station, so someone who was at the gas station at the same time is the most likely suspect.

The Mounties always get their man, it might not be the right man, but it’s their man.

Well maybe in this case, they will get the right man……. Their man.

Somebody didn’t like what was being said, must have ruffed somebody’s feathers. Lol

The truth will do that

Your information about her last stop being the gas station is erroneous. She dropped her friend off after they walked from the sun shop next door to the Mohawk where they bought cigarettes, from there they left together heading in the direction of the friends house . This is all recorder by cctv cameras that were both inside the Mohawk as well as outside the building. It was after midnight when they left the Mohawk. As I said this info is on cctv footage and in the possession of the RCMP

There was a RCMP cruiser parked across the street from the Mohawk and in a location whereby the driver could watch every move Carolyn made. When the girls drive away from the Mohawk that police cruiser followed them.

The friend did report that they had been followed. How far? We don’t know.

There’s information on the internet that tells the name of the waitress who served the group that Carolyn was part of in the bar, ( silver spur saloon) during the time after the hockey game until the girls went to the submarine shop. Hockey game ended about 8:30 and the girls arrived at the submarine shop at shortly after 11:00 pm

All the evidence at the abandoned car screams “ arrested”. She had been drinking.
There was 3 witnesses that had come forward at the time saying they had seen the flashing lights of a police car at the correct time and location of the abandoned car.
It was common knowledge in the community of RCMP asking local fire departments for urine and pubic hair samples but their major concern was who might have had access to a flashing red beacon.

So, the small change can drastically influence the theories by changing from “ her last stop was the Mohawk” to “ her last stop was dropping off her friend” can change drastically change suspects.

Why would facts be changed other that to have the facts fit a theory, as compaired to having the “ facts “ point to a suspect.

From where Carolyn was sitting in the submarine shop, she could have seen the police car where it was parked across the street. As well, the friend undoubtedly saw it as well when she went with Carolyn to buy cigs or when she lady the Mohawk to go to Carolyn’s car.

Carolyn was fully aware of the police cruiser being parked there as she was told by a person who was there and she acknowledged it this again on cctv

The fact that the police car was present might have been discussed by the girls either inside the sub shop or in the car as they were leaving or afterward. Only the friend would know

The 2 customers that were in the submarine shop when the girls were aware of the police car that was parked across the street as well.
