GUILTY Canada - Remains of 6 infants found, Andrea Giesbrecht charged, Winnipeg, Oct 2014

sounds like welfare fraud to me........MOO

pregnancies + additional dependents = $$$

rsbm --

If that's the case, then they will have a record of her live births. If so, then they would already know that the babies were hers -- and this would be a closed case. (Which perhaps it is.)

New article on Andrea Giesbrecht, the accused:

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manit...-about-accused-in-dead-infants-case-1.2810959

It would appear that a serious gambling addiction ($500 individual bets, often more than once in an evening) was a catalyst for her fraud charges and relationship issues, but it's unclear to me how it would have any relation to the dead babies in her storage locker.

you and me both (confused)

I read the article and said aloud "so what"............what's the defence bi polar disorder?

heck of a stretch......MOO

why did people in this thread automatically think it might be first nations babies

Did not see any posts like that, did I miss something?

There are two posts guessing that the babies might be FN. Personally, I don't understand the assumption, and I don't think that there was any support in the thread for it.

A justice source said there were several individual containers, each holding the remains of at least one child, placed inside the locker that had been rented out in Andrea Giesbrecht's name.

They had been placed in a mystery liquid, which authorities are working to identity to determine whether it was meant to aid in preservation or speed up decomposition.

From your link

"Newspaper ads previously placed in the Free Press show Giesbrecht has a history of lapsing on payments for other rental units."

Wth? I hope LE are going over her other storage units with a fine tooth comb. If these poor babies are indeed not born from her, as her lawyer claims, how the heck is she getting them?

still thinking we have a lot of info missing on this one. Curious to see how this all shakes out.

I think the defence of bipolar is bunk for both the gambling issues and the concealing of infants. I have bipolar II and I can assure you I have never thought about concealing the bodies of infants in a storage locker. MOO of course but that's ridiculous and makes people with bipolar disorder look bad.

There is something they aren't telling us. Basically they are saying it is OK to do this if you have bp?
Total bs if so. There are 6 babies in a container of liquid to either speed up decomp.. Or preserve. You would have to be competent to even do this. Have to have some knowledge of this. Get her wify.devices. find out how long this was planned.

why did people in this thread automatically think it might be first nations babies

I assume this is aimed at me. I did not "automatically think" it; I wondered if it might be possible. My speculation was based upon several well-publicised phenomena: the fact that First Nations children are more likely to be taken into foster care than non-FN children; the fact that they are more likely to be abused or die once they get there; and the fact that disappearances of FN victims tend to get less attention from media and law enforcement than those of non-FN victims (remember, these children had apparently not been reported missing).

While her lawyer was in court arguing that he wanted an independent pathologist to observe the autopsies (which are 90% complete).....LE armed with a search warrant were going through the residence of the accused ((who was in court this am too))

LE is expected to remain at the residence throughout the night ((I often wondered where people go while LE has control of the residence)).

A van without plates was removed from the property

The central issue from the point of view of the Office of the Pathologist is to remain neutral and without outside interference in their findings.
