I'm still a little disturbed by this. Has anyone here ever watched the movie Crawlspace from 1986? Apparently it is about the son of a nazi doctor who tortures and kills women in the Crawlspace of the apartment building he manages. The women were apparently tenants and all seem to have been different (a collection maybe???). The movie poster states: "Crawlspace, you're just inches away from a fate worse than DEATH".

I've never watched and there isn't much info, not sure if it's relevant.

My fear is that he had his own body farm in the dirt and they are going to find all sorts of animals at varying degrees of decomposition.

Yet the video at the link states there is a gag order in effect as does the report from channel 9 I posted on the first page. Maybe they failed to update that portion of the print story.

Yes, the gag order was issued last night (Oct 25), so something prompted it after the court session. I can't find a link, but I saw Scott Storey (DA) say it on camera, that he can no longer discuss the case due to a gag order.

As twall said above, the reporter must not have updated the text.

ETA: here's one link about the gag order. It's reported in the video, but not in the article text http://www.9news.com/news/article/296133/188/Home-searched-Sigg-interviewed-weeks-ago

A gag order probably should have been ordered right away. Lots of info coming out could cause lots of problems for the integrity of the prosecution. Making sure there is a conviction is more important than a bunch of sensational news stories. MOO

I have to assume given the nature of the crimes for which he is accused that this shouldn't be an issue. He kidnapped, tortured according to his confession (hogtied her), murdered, dismembered, and then led LE on a scavenger hunt.

He cannot claim a lack of understanding of his actions, considering the courses he was taking. The age of his victim compared to his own is significant. This wasn't 2 boys who got into a fight and one hit the other too hard and the boy who was hit died.

Let him have his hearing, I don't see how anyone could conclude that he should be tried as a juvenile.

well I tried to compare some of the videos by this same person with the ones I watched yesterday by rankromcomms...but rankromcomms have all been shut down. I was looking at the ones with the squirrel and trying to compare the home setting...I do remember the light carpet, but that is all I remember....I am looking for the one of him sitting in the middle of the floor in what looks like a living room and someone is throwing stuff at him....

Yes, I can see why the Honorable Judge(wink/wink) would want to issue the gag order with the number of abduction attempts in the Denver area in the past year and with Elections less than two weeks away..

Why not, seems that there has been an unofficial gag order issued on the many abduction attempts and the state of Public Safety for the area's citizens for over a year prior to Jessica Ridgeway's tragic abduction/murder...

'The CO citizens deserve the truth.. Without public safety for our families, friends, and loved ones, we have nothing'...

snipped

Sigg's defense lawyers will likely move for a reverse-transfer hearing, said Kim Dvorchak, director of the Colorado Juvenile Defender Coalition.
.....
If he is convicted as a minor charged as an adult, Sigg faces life in prison with the possibility of parole after 40 years on a single first-degree murder charge. Convictions on the additional charges would lengthen the sentence, Dvorchak said.

No huge advantage to being charged as a juvenile, according to that story:

If Sigg were convicted in juvenile court of the charges described in his detention record — first-degree murder, felony murder and kidnapping in Jessica's case and criminal attempt to kidnap and to murder in the attack on the jogger — he would face a maximum sentence of seven years for each count, which could run consecutively, Dvorchak said.

Unless I am miscounting, that's 5 charges at 7 years each to run consecutively. So he'd be getting 35 years as a juvenile vs 40 to life as an adult.

In reference to DNA- I am not an expert, or Biologist, but he could have left his DNA all over the space, as long as he was not on file they were up against a wall. If it is true that he was a part of the wide net of DNA collection then yes he would have been caught.

With that said there are now 500-plus people that are on file.

Oh and I thought it interesting the person who's YouTube channel that is hadn't posted in about 8 months until this...

I agree....same with the rankromcomms user on you tube...while looking yesterday, seems all videos were at least a year old, but to the side it said, last upload (or edit) Oct. 21, 2012....but I couldn't find anything...

Just a quick newbie post on why he'd submit to DNA collection:

Things like that are very common. People consent to a search of their cars all the time when they have illegal things in them. Always blows my mind, but it often happens. Police are intimidating to many people. Many people don't realize they can say no, and if you do say no, it's not like the kind police officer says "Well, thank you sir, I'll just be on my way." I expect there's a combination of simple fact (refusing makes you worth taking a hard look at, and if you're innocent, why go through that or distract the investigation?) and coercion. I'm sure there are legal things they can do to make not complying unpleasant.

A friend of mine told a story once about how he was taken downtown (his words), fingerprinted, blood drawn for DNA, and questioned before he even got around to asking why, or maybe it was actually getting an answer. He was a suspect in a rape. No, he didn't do it, and the actual guilty party was arrested shortly later. Complying with police requests is something most of do on autopilot.

I just figured LE showed up at their home asking for help with the case and wanting DNA. Mom and little brother were happy to help out, what was he going to do say no? My guess is that anyone who refused would automatically become suspect, plus how will he explain a NO to his mom? JMO

I thought that if you murdered someone you get either the death penalty or life in prison. Seriously, they are going to let this guy out to torture and kill again!!?? It's bad enough they let rapists out, who eventually go on to kill - like Brandon Scott Lavergne. But this Sigg guy has already killed, so why let him out? Is it because he's 17?

I have not read the last few threads completely as RL as gotten in the way as usual! But then again, I took some time away. This whole case, from the very beginning, as been one of the most horrible ones I have followed. Those I have followed, this is the first one where I came away feeling so many emotions for not only the family of the victim but the family of the accused. When AS was arrested and confessed, I was so flabbergasted that a 17 yo kid was the perp. This kid could have been one of my son's friends. Seriously, if I had seen this kid on the street, I would never have given a second thought. Even looking at his mugshot it was hard for me to feel a disconnect from my emotions.

I know we live in dark times and so many attempted abductions in Colorado and missing women/children/men across the world. But this is the second case where a mother had to do what was right and turn her child in for horrendous crimes. I look at my sons who are 16 and 18 and wonder. Were there signs. This mom took her son to counseling for *advertiser censored* addiction, did the counselor notice signs that this person was missing empathy and could be a killer someday. We advocate if there are issues, take them for help. She did..but it was too late already? Idk, being a mom to boys in the age group of these young men in both cases (NJ and CO) my heart breaks for their mother. While I am sure I would do the right thing as well, I am not 100% sure it would be when I 'thought' something didn't add up. My heart would not be able to accept it until my son said 'I did it'. I just wonder why he went to his mother and confessed. Its so contradictory to the crime itself.

I hope that justice is served for JR and this young man pleads guilty so the family of JR does not have to go through the trial and reliving what he did to their baby. But there is a part of me that hopes he does it so that HIS family is also relieved of that burden. They remind me so of Steven Staynor and his family and all they went through. One son kidnapped and gone for years and the other son a serial killer...how does this happen?

I am off to get back on track and up to date. These are just my thoughts.

Obviously they go easier on someone who is a teen. According to what has been posted here he could get up to 35 yrs..?? IDK. My opinion is also that they should never get out once they have killed even if they are a teen.
