SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) – Dylan Round’s family is now offering a $100,000 reward for information that can lead to his whereabouts.

Candice Cooley, Dylan’s mother confirmed the reward. It was posted on the official Find Dylan Rounds Facebook page.

Rounds disappeared nearly a month ago. He operated a farm near the town of Lucin in western Box Elder County.

[..]

He was last heard from on May 28 when he called his grandmother. His mother is growing frustrated with the lack of progress.

“Stuff like this doesn’t happen without people knowing,” said Candice Cooley. “They’re just not talking. Somebody tell us something. We have no direction right now.”

On Memorial Day weekend, his family arrived at the farm. They found his truck. It hadn’t been moved but his mother found it odd that it had been power washed.

His boots were found a short distance from the farm property and they’re now being analyzed. Box Elder Sheriff’s Department is now treating this as a missing person/criminal investigation, but there is no information as to why it is now being treated as a criminal investigation

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) – A 19-year-old who grew up in Rigby is missing from his farm in Utah.

According to his mother, Candice Cooley, Dylan Rounds always had dreams of owning a farm. He purchased land in Box Elder County, Utah and set out to do so.

He had been living on and maintaining his farm when he suddenly disappeared.

He last had contact with his grandmother on May 28, and no one else had heard from him since then.

On May 30, the family, living in Idaho, decided to head down to his farm in search for him.

Upon arrival, the farm looked abandoned. Everything was still in its place, just no sign of Rounds.

After searching on their own for a few days, Search and Rescue came out that first weekend and were able to locate his boots behind a dirt pile, 100 yards from where his grain truck was parked.

Cooley says those were his only boots.

On Wednesday, before his disappearance, Cooley said Rounds had called her telling her about a bloody man who was walking on foot and came up out of the desert.

She says Rounds told her the man asked for a ride, but Rounds told her he didn't give him one.

The family and law enforcement had received tips to look in Lucin, Utah, a town nearby Round's farm.

In Lucin, the family discovered the identity of the man. He had voluntarily contacted them and didn't know where Rounds was.

[..]

Search parties and efforts continue in the area and into nearby areas in Nevada.

At first, the Box Elder County Sheriff's Department issued it as a missing person's case, but after more suspicions arose, it has now been updated to a criminal case.

The family has found three people of interest on their own, including two former employees Rounds was known to work with. Cooley says, no suspects have been found, but no person of interest has been cleared.

The family has issued a $100,000 reward for direct information that leads to Rounds returning home and finding the person who is responsible for his disappearance.

To submit leads or information call the Missing in America Network at 1-(800) 642-5678, the Anonymous Tip Line at (844) 642-5678, or the Box Elder County Sheriff at (435) 723-5227.

SALT LAKE CITY (KTVX) – Soon after graduating from high school, Dylan Rounds set out to complete his plan.

He wanted his own land to farm.

And that’s what he was doing along the Nevada-Utah border when he suddenly vanished.

“This began on Monday, Memorial Day, May 30th when we figured out that nobody had seen my son for a couple of days,” said his mother Candace Cooley.

For the past year, Rounds lived in an RV camper on his property in Box Elder County along the Nevada-Utah border.

“Dylan’s been working on this farm, in Utah, his own farm, on getting the ground torn out and getting prepared for his crop,” said Cooley. “This year was going to be his first crop. That farm was his whole life.”

[..]

On Memorial Day weekend his Idaho family traveled to the farm after failing to hear from him. The place was abandoned.

“We’ve been searching, been looking everywhere,” Cooley said. “Search and rescue came out that first weekend and we located his boots.”

His mother said the boots were a short distance away from his RV camper and it was the only pair he owned.

“At that point, it should have been treated as foul play,” thought Cooley. “You just don’t see someone’s boots in the desert that’s missing.”

Before he went missing from his farm in northwest Utah, relatives said Dylan Rounds told them of a "weird run-in" with a barefoot stranger he came across on a deserted, country road near his home.

Federal agents are stepping in to help uncover what happened to a budding farmer who disappeared from his rural Utah farm.

Dylan Rounds, 19, was last heard from on May 28 after he spoke to his grandmother on the phone, according to East Idaho News. Dylan, who is from eastern Idaho, lived alone on his farm in Lucin, Utah — in the northwest part of the state near the Nevada state border — and hasn’t been heard from since.

According to his parents, there has been no activity on Dylan’s cell phone or bank accounts since Dylan disappeared.

FBI spokeswoman Sandra Barker confirmed to East Idaho News that they are joining the search for Rounds. The Box Elder Sheriff’s Office previously stated on June 15 that they’re “making continual efforts to locate Dylan Rounds and to investigate the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.”

The sheriff’s office also announced they have every detective in their department working on the case, according to East Idaho News.

A MAJOR update has been revealed in the search for a farmer missing for over a month after a “weird run-in” with a man on a dirt road.

Dylan Rounds’ family last heard from the 19-year-old by phone on May 28 before he seemingly disappeared without a trace.

[..]

His family suspects foul play, which investigators haven’t ruled out as tips and a large-scale search have produced no clues as to where he is.

“If somebody is involved with Dylan’s disappearance, they need to know we’re not going to go away,” said Chief Deputy Cade Palmer of the Box Elder County Sheriff’s Office.

“If this takes months, if it takes years, we’ll keep knocking on doors.”

To add to the mystery, Rounds’ boots were found by police yards from his grain truck in the opposite direction of his RV camper in Lucin, Uta

“We routinely offer our assistance and resources to our law enforcement partners,” said spokeswoman Sandra Barker to East Idaho News.

Cooley said she was thankful that the agency was taking her son’s case but criticized local authorities, saying their support to the family hasn’t been the best.

“When Box Elder County came out, they came out Monday, May 30,” she said, adding that investigators had done a good job at first.

“But by the next day, when they come out, and the sheriffs and everybody came back out, it was around 2, 3 in the afternoon — they called it.

"They literally left our family out in the desert to figure out what happened," she claimed.

In a statement, the Box Elder County Sheriff’s Office said, “Box Elder County volunteer teams have logged over 300 hours searching, covering over 3,000 miles (not including the hours and miles traveled to and from the remote search areas).

“Box Elder County Sheriff’s Office Detectives and Deputies have also been searching around the clock, weekdays and weekends. So far, detectives have spent over 650 hours investigating this case.

“These numbers continue to increase daily and do not include the time and resources contributed by assisting law enforcement agencies and search teams.”

In the meantime, Rounds’ parents are asking anyone with information to come forward.
