Last year an Alachua County Sheriff’s Office cold case examiner sent the remains to a forensic lab in Texas. The remains were identified as Ralph Tufano and DNA analysis allowed them to identify a match who was a relative of Tufano.

Many forensic cases will require dedicated and optimized lab methods. Regular methods will result in stalled cases. You can't just send evidence to *any* lab!

Reminds me of James Everett. It's so weird how these men can apparently just walk away from their lives and spend years wandering to wind up unidentifiable (until now) remains, hundreds and hundreds of miles away from home.
