Yes. The witness said he didn't recall how or if she asked about what kind of ammo to buy, but said typically customers ask what kind of bullets go with the gun.
He said he asks what they will be using the gun for, and then suggests the type of bullet.

She said there were break ins in her neighborhood and wanted protection, so we can assume he suggested hollow points since those are the kind she purchased.
