FL FL - Kingfish Boat Ramp Murders, Holmes Beach, 1 Aug 1980

xgumshoe, are you still around? Care to fill in some of the details for general consumption, or is it still all confidential? I will remain mum about what you told me in confidence.

Crimesolver, he hasn't been back since 3-15-08. Rather strange if you ask me. Boy am I curious what he said to you lol then again I am a woman and it is my nature to be curious.

The lone finger print has been run but it is not a good image and no match has ever been made. The Sheriff Dept is actually the chief law enforcement agency in any county in the State of Fl. and can get involved in any crime committed. They don't like to over ride another agency unless asked to tho. They were involed in this but on a small scale. Are you sure xgumshoe is a male? I don't think so. There has been alot of talk on this about mob connections. Without really saying anything has anyone thought about a dog track connection shhhh.

Was the print run again after the initial investigation? I think it is possible that the perp could have been arrested at sometime in the past 29 years.

Do you know xgumshoe?

In 1980 from what I remember, the dog tracks had la casa nostra connections, Santos Trafficanti, Paul Castillano, etc. Even though I am thinking along the lines that this was a hit, I just can't fathom how the hitman could have known that they where going to be at the boat ramp that day unless they had been followed. This would make sense on the 4th victim, he was an innocent bystander that basically saw too much and could identify the perp and it was supposed to be a clean hit.

i am retired LE and know alittle about the HBPD and based on what I know Im just guessing at who xgumshoe may be. It seems you have really done your homework about this case. From what I remember the hit theory with ties to the dog track was where the investigation was centered.

It looked like a hit job to me. Thank you for clarifying that. I guess I should stop sending emails to the casino telling them their slots suck, lol. I could be next.

It's not so much homework as intuition and enviroment. My stepfather was an attorney in Pinellas and between him and my dm I had met quite a few charactures over the years. I know the mobs m.o.

Hey Sleuthster, 1 more thing that you might find interesting but really don't want to post it here

Click on my name in this post and there is a list of options including sending private message. ;) I have to take my dd to school but I'll be back in a bit.

nope just says public profile, homepage, add to contacts and find all your posts. can u tell i'm a bit new to this site? lol

Hi all,
I'm just now reading about this case. Very interesting. Does anyone know if Dr.Juan Dumois was Cuban, Cuban-American ? In the late 70's early to mid 80's there were all kinds of stories about Cuban agents, and/or double agents in Florida. The lack of publicity and news about the murder is telling. It seems like an assassination. And anyone in the way would just be considered as collateral damage. Just a thought ...
I don't have any real life knowledge about the mob, but I wouldn't have thought they would use someone on a bike to do a "hit".
The other big thing going on in Florida then was cocaine smuggling. Columbians were often involved, and they gained a reputation for being violent and ruthless. Would love to hear more about this terrible case.

Very interesting case. I wonder what happened to the wife after all this?

Somewhat off topic, but have a comment to make about the private emailing/messages to only certain members. This is a public forum and we are all here to work on cases together. It is counterproductive to the process of a public forum here at WS to keep information secret. I actually believe it is against the terms of service on WS to advertise that you are going to send private emails and messages outside of the forum.

If you have information about this case, please share it with all of us, so we can work on this together. This is a public forum.

BBM

It is against the terms of service to post that information on the public forums.

Did they do an unsolved mysteries piece on this? I know I have seen this case profiled on TV with re-enactments.

No. I was a U.M. devotee for the entirety of the show's run, and I'm almost certain this case was never profiled. Same with A.M.W.

A new member can't send PM's until they have 50 posts. That's why Itcouldhappen is unable to do so.

I hadn't heard about this case until today. I'm surprised it hasn't received much media attention over the years. There are some very good theories posted here. From what I've read, I would agree with others, this sounds like a planned assasination. Although I do wonder why the children were killed? It doesn't seem like there would be too many people that would know they would be out there fishing, parked at that location that day??? Although, I guess they could have been followed there. I still don't understand why the perp waited to kill them in the car and not just do it at the dock? Were there too many people around?

Good questions.

I believe that he shot the children because they where witnesses. The mob doesnt leave witnesses.
The email I got was from a retired LE. He did not say anything different then what was said here, he only confirmed that I was probably right on my assumptions and that sometimes evidence is not preserved over time to where it can be extracted and compared. I think that has been the problem with this case.

Hi,
So is the theory that four people were shot in the back of the head at point blank range, and left to die in that car, because Dr.Dumois (possibly) didn't take care of his gambling markers at a local small time dog track ?
Also, I have never heard that the "mob" kills children ; the common wisdom is that family members are "civilians" and off limits.
Do you reckon it would have been easier for them to break his legs,or beat him up ? How would they ever collect the (possible) debts of the doctor if he was dead ?
Columbian cocaine dealers would kill whole families without a second thought if someone crossed them. But, why would there be no publicity or information ? Sounds like a political assassination IMHO.

Hello -
I live in this area, so this thread has really caught my attention. I didn't live here at the time, moved here in '83, but people were still talking about it then.

You never hear about it now. But if I can be of help, let me know.
