FL - Manhunt in Tampa after 4 slayings in 5 weeks, Oct-Nov 2017 #1

I've been watching this all day and my theory is this is a 16-22 year old who probably still lives with their parents in the area. Today they were asking that everyone go and check on their guns and if anything is off give them a call. It sounds like they want to see if it's a stolen gun, but no. I think if anyone calls they will look at the family and see if they have a son fitting the description. This person appears to not be able to use a gun well. Firing at each victim numerous times makes me think they aren't great at handling fire arms like it's fairly new. Being able to get away all 4 times means they have to be from that area and have a good hiding place.

Interim Tampa Police Chief Brian Dugan said it is extremely possible that the killer — or killers — live in the neighborhood.

"Whoever is doing it, they're familiar with the neighborhood and they're able to vanish very quickly," Dugan said.
...

All of October's victims were either getting on or off a city bus, or were at a bus stop, when they were shot, police said. It was unclear if Tuesday's victim was near a bus stop.

rbbm. If there are 2 killers, does one act as a lookout and communicates to the shooter by cell phone?
speculation, imo

Police and federal agents with rifles checked car trunks, banged on doors and gathered forensic evidence in a Tampa neighborhood Tuesday as they hunted for the killer believed responsible for gunning down four people for no apparent reason in just over a month.
Interim Tampa Police Chief Brian Dugan said it is extremely possible that the killer — or killers — live in the neighborhood.
Bryanna Fox, a criminology professor at the University of South Florida in Tampa, said it is unusual for a serial killer to use a gun.

"A lot of serial killers prefer other methods such as knives or strangulation," she said. "Those tend to be more one-on-one, and that's what most serial killers prefer, a more intimate experience."

Residents of a Tampa neighborhood were asked to shelter in place Tuesday after a body was found close to where three people were killed within a half-mile of each other last month -- once again sparking fears of a serial killer in the Sunshine State.

Tampa Police said they're investigating a suspicious death in the Seminole Heights neighborhood, where residents have been in fear since mid-October when three people were fatally shot within a 10-day period.

The response to this latest shooting has been huge. Watching the videos has really highlighted it to me - I think they're pretty confident about their chances of finding the perp this time. To have so many armed officers around suggests they're prepared to engage if needs be, and believe that may be a possibility.

Wow just learning of the new shooting.

I think LE needs to continue to go door to door and see if anyone or any family members behaves supsicously when coming to the door. They can even ask if they have seen their neighbors coming or going strangely or on foot.

The perp has to live really close to the last shooting. Its amazing his exit plan is to run. That tells LE something right there. He has to live close by IMO.

I dont think he was using a car or he would have just likely fired out the window of a vehicle. I think he is running back home. And I think he is in his twenties.

I hope LE catches this person - unfortunately, Snowbird Season(TM) is here in FL and ripe for opportunists.

Two years ago we had criminals with ties to a Chicago ring and that is just one example.

I truly hate this time of year in Florida.

I want to know when so many Americans became soft.

I wonder if there are more videos of the perp.

I wonder if the witness has seen the other videos and feels this killer is the same one.

I wonder if the witness saw the face

This is about 45 min away.
Could it be related?

"Shots fired at Zephyrhills Police Officer's home and cruiser."
And they also fired at the home with the officer and his family inside.*

No one was injured.

But the Pasco Sheriff’s Office says they are treating this crime scene like a murder case, even bringing in the forensics team.

Just now watching on NBC news with Lester Holt -- Holt talks about the city being on edge. And folks are wondering if this most recent killing could be the work of the killer of the other three.

"Killer could live in the neighborhood," and showing the tape of the man walking down the street. So at least the spotlight is still on it -- and a local LEO was shown saying that they won't quit till they find the perpetrator.

Initial reporting “black male” was changed to “African-American male with a light complexion”.
Do they KNOW the suspect is “African-American”?
For some journalists, I wonder if “African-American” is a default for “black”. But they’re afraid to write “black”.
Just say “black” with light complexion.
My best friend is African-Jamaican with a light complexion.

Great question. I bet you’re right; that they do NOT know for sure that the suspect is African American. He could well be Caribbean-American.

Black is generally preferred in many newsrooms. Associated Press style (used in almost all newsrooms) doesn’t have a strong preference either way.

Reporters might be using “African American” if police described the suspect as such. Or it could be a thoughtless “default” for black, but I don’t think it’s because they’re “afraid” to write the word black, because it’s often recommended when full nationality isn’t known. They aren’t synonyms, and your comment about nationality is on-point, IMO. [emoji20]

Interesting that LE asked if you owned a gun, and if it's been stolen. I wonder if a different caliber was used this time? This lunatic needs to be found ASAP! Terrifying

Someone could steal a gun that’s rarely if ever used and use it during a crime, or sell it on the street. The owners might not miss it for quite some time.

... Or, as some others have mentioned, a missing firearm might be “borrowed” or stolen by a friend or family member who then used it in these killings.

"Murray said she believes Felton may have known the killer because witnesses reported he crossed the street to speak with him. She said police told her Felton was on his mobile phone with his brother Reggie at the time of the shooting so she hopes he said a name before he died."

Here it is reported that the person he crossed the street to meet is described by police as a witness and police know the name of this witness:

Felton was crossing the street to meet someone when the shooter came up behind him, police said. Police have the name of the person he crossed to meet and described the individual as a witness.

Everyone goes to Walmart. I think they ought to sit and watch Walmart tapes from that location up 15 th street Til they find him.
