Forensic Botany

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I was reading Dr. Bock's deposition and I found the following statements interesting as they tie into the information I posted in my quote above...
Harmony2, thanks wasnt enough! This is soooo interesting.I'd sugest reading pgs. 65 thru 75 at least! I plan to read more tomorrow.:great:
Bumping this thread up... It contains some of the information testified to today regarding botanicals found (last pages of thread) ... Links are provided...
-----------
They have a lot of dirt,scrapings etc.from the Pontiac. It is all listed in the Docs..
P.S.They also found stains on someof KC.s clothes.I spent last evening rereading Docs from the FBI.
I didn't know they found stains on ICA's clothes. Do you have a link? Thanks.
During Friday's testimony - Gerardo Bloise pointed out that there were dried leaves under the car.
About 10:45, then about 18:36 he talks about a leaf that was in the spare tire well:
http://www.wftv.com/video/28125507/index.html
I am hoping that they can somehow be tied to the area where Caylee was found.
I had not recalled these leaves before. Are they significant? What do you think it means? :waitasec:
Softail I am hoping the same thing, that somehow it will tie in with her dumping Caylee.
But basically Bloise was stating EVERYTHING that he found when he went through the trunk with a fine tooth comb.
And I have no idea if where Caylee was dumped if the car could even have access to go into the area or just pull up on the side of the road.
Softail, I think these leaves are important...it seems that the car is a major piece to this puzzle and to have found leaves under the car and also in the trunk (where many of us suspect Caylee's body was placed for a short period of time) IMO is crucial.
I remember hearing about the leaves in the beginning and didn't know what to make of it...I am curious as to how a leaf would end up in the spare tire well...was something taken from the woods and put in there? maybe shoes? I just don't know...
Hi Softail :seeya:
I believe these leaves a very important. Way back, LP was talking about these leaves. He said the name of them, but I forget what they are called. Anyway, IIRC those leaves are located in the woods of the remains site. I'll try and find the link today. :)
:great: Great points about the DRY LEAVES ! I do not remember hearing about these leaves before.
:great: Mr. Bloise was a very impressive witness, and he did an extremely thorough job on ICA's car !
These are a few points I would like to see the forensic botanist clarify, as well as I hope the trees/bushes in these area are checked out as well:
1. Do we know if the leaves found under the car "match" the leaves in the tire well ? Are the leaves the same ?
2. Do the leaves found near Caylee's remains match the leaves found under the car and in the tire well ?
3. Do these leaves match any trees/bushes in the Anthony's yard ?
4. Do these leaves match any trees/bushes around TL's apartment ?
5. This may be a little tedious, but I would check any areas where there are lots of trees/bushes/shrubs where ICA was between June 16, 2008 through June 24, 2008.
Matching these leaves found under ICA's car and in the tire well could be critical and may answer some of the unknown questions as to when and where ICA put Caylee in the trunk, or ICA tried to "hide the body" somewhere.
IIRC the LP discussion centered around terpenes that were discussed in another thread.
Here is to hoping a handful of leaves - leaves KC up a tree without a branch!
Thanks for this! I do recall him talking about the terpens, but these are not leaves. Correct? :waitasec:
Mr. Bloise specifically spoke about the dried leaves. I get the impression that, Mr. Bloise pointed them out, and when the Botanist testifies he will expand.
:bump:
Mods, I started a thread about the leaves, and just found this one. My apologies. Merge them?
Apparently I did miss the leaves! Good info here!
OOPS! :blushing:
Apparently there was alread a thread about this, that I missed.
I am having a really hard time finding the original link. :banghead:
But I found this, snipped transcript from NG show on 1/9/2009. I hope it's ok to post.
From NANCY'S SHOW LAST NITE about Terpins being found on Casey's car tires??
Grace: For anybody that doesn't understand -- know what a terpene is, please explain that.
Padilla: Well, it's a residue or a -- that's given off by certain Florida area and also available in other areas but if they find terpenes, that means that the car wasn't just up on the roads. It was down in the forest or the weeds or close by
---------------
I hoped LE checked the undercarriage. The undercarriage as well as the tires have a lot of hidden secrets. You will find bugs and all kind of things under there including dirt, foliage, ect. IMO
Doesn't have to be a forest, the swallowtail caterpillers/butterflies emit the substance also. So imo, it could have been just down the street, Lenny. I remember this being talked about a long time ago, I'm going to read the old thread.
I'm far more interested in the leaves-- I wonder if GA is so meticulous he cleans in the spare tire area? I know I've purchased used cars that are cleaned to that level, so maybe he does. It's a question I'd like to hear answered. Hopefully it's all KC's recent mess.
:cool:
Good morning folks! I am going to merge the two threads. The connection to the remains scene is the pinenes and limonenes mentioned in an E-mail from Dr. Vass. Refer to my post #138 on the thread. Hopefully, the connection will be used at trial.
re bbm: squirrels............
I found this post-- it has a valuable quote about camphor and live oak... it also indicates the car must have been parked beneath the source for some time, I'm thinking TonE's apartment, Amscot, or even the tow yard. idk
re bbm: squirrels............
During testimony on Friday, the prosecutor actually did ask the CSI if there were any animal parts under the car. He said there weren't any.
Here is to hoping a handful of leaves - leaves KC up a tree without a branch!
I don't think that is going to happen. I think that the prosecution does not regard the dried leaves as having any real evidenciary value. If they did, we would have seen lots more stuff about them in the document dumps.
All this leaf and dirt debris in the spare tire compartment may have been from when Casey had a flat tire. She mentioned a tire gone flat to Cindy in a jailhouse visit. Cindy talked about having a flat and then Casey reminded her that she too had once had a flat.
