France fears for girl Maelys missing since Isere wedding

_97582650_gettyimages-840197158.jpg

The girl, Maëlys De Araujo, was last seen in a children's room at about 03:00 on Sunday (01:00 GMT).
Extensive searches of the area around the wedding hall using a helicopter and police dogs have thus far failed to find a trace of the girl.
A kidnapping investigation has opened and police have issued an appeal for witnesses.

Police have already interviewed most of the 180 attendees at the wedding, which took place in a hall in Pont-de-Beauvoisin, Isère.
But the local prosecutor says they are also trying to speak to an additional 70 people who were attending two other social events at a community hall and bar nearby.
Maëlys was at the wedding along with her mother - cousin of the bride - father, and older sister. They are said to live in the nearby department of Jura.
A guest, Grégoire, told Le Parisien news site what had happened when guests realised the girl was missing.

Nordahl Lelandais : les enquêteurs s'intéressent à 40 dossiers de disparus ou de morts suspectes

These people disappeared or were found dead in disturbing circumstances in the Auvergne-Rhônes-Alpes region. Le Parisien interviewed multiple sources, and established this list: 35 cases of disturbing disappearances and 5 suspicious deaths, which occurred in Savoie, Isère, Drôme, Rhône, Loire and Ain. 27 of the victims are men, 12 are women, almost all under 40 years of age, with the exception of a young girl who disappeared near Lyon.

I was wondering about the young girl who disappeared near Lyon.
Some sources call her 'une mineure' a minor, younger than 18 that would be.
Other sources say 'fillette', little girl.
I've done some searching, sadly there are many girls missing, but it remains unclear in which case a possible involvement of Nordahl Lelandais is suspected.

As for Edwige Ukundirwase who disappeared from Oullins near Lyon during a what was supposed to be a short stay in France, there is a person (or persons) of that name active on instagram. The name is also written Eduige, could that be the same?
She would have been 20 at the time of her disappearance, so she is not the minor who disappeared near Lyon.

There's an Eduige (same spelling, with a u) Ukundirwase on FB as well.

So.... what happens now in court for NL? Do they get on with a trial for Maelys' case?
Anyone know "what" happens now - that they've gone thru reconstructions? TIA! :)

I tried to find her on possible listings of the missing in Rwanda where she came from.
I should have known better, could have known better, because I hit history. Either those missing from the Rwandese genocide, now 20 years ago, or those missing in relation to the current political situation. Sad, sad and sad. I remember the news about a lake that filled with blood, the horror.

Found no missing Edwige / Eduige Ukundirwase and given the situation I am not surprised.

Niner, you have a grasp of the essentials not unlike Kim Kardashian. I think you should consider studying law.

There is no news about a next step. Given the suspicions, evidence and facts, a pre-trial detention of 4 years and 4 months is possible.

Mise en examen may last 2 years, but this period can be prolonged with 6 months.

No thanks on studying law! LOL! But I would say I would probably make a better lawyer than Kim!

My BIL is a lawyer - workman's comp.

So we wait....

Another weekend, and still nothing new about Edwige Ukundirwase or Pierre-Alexandre Seenyen.

How are we ever going to find them if we don't know what we are looking for? It makes one wonder how the Anacrym software works, I have always understood that similar to garbage in, garbage out, if you put nothing in this would lead to nothing out too.

No doubt a dedicated reporter is working hard on this.

While I was looking for info I did not find, I found something that I wasn't looking for:

Kniner Kardashian!

I quite like that for a lawyer, what do you think, Niner? We might hyphenate you if you like, that would be K-Niner Kardashian, or K-9r, a name that exudes tenacity and purpose.

Happy Easter!

A cold case has been reopened. It is unclear if this case figures on the list of the Ariane cell, and the timing is a bit off, but the facts took place in the Ain, one of the regions in the focus of Ariane.

Affaire Magalie Part : l’enquête relancée

Magalie Part case: the investigation reopened

Eighteen years after the facts, the discovery of a completely burned body of the young woman has never been elucidated. A cold case unit was called in to try to solve a case that has still not revealed its secrets.

She had last been seen alive near Ornex, in the Ain region, on March 26, 2001. The next morning, Magalie Part's body (née Bertrand) was found mostly charred near a forest trail near Vulbens. At the time, the young woman, employed at the Bricomarché de Saint-Genis-Pouilly, was in a relationship with Geoffrey Part, whom she had just married.

According to information reported by our colleagues at Le Parisien, a team of investigators specialized in handling unsolved cases will now handle the case. Contacted by us, the public prosecutor of Thonon, went in this direction. "The investigating judge referred the matter to the Central Office for the Suppression of Violence Against Persons (OCRVP)," Philippe Toccanier says.

This unit, made up of police officers and gendarmes, is responsible for centralizing and analysing acts committed throughout the national territory. Specialized in the treatment of "cold cases", (literally "cold cases"), the latter had decided to reopen 97 unsolved criminal cases in 2016.

Other responsibilities of the OCRVP include the power to "compare with previous or subsequent cases." On this point, however, the prosecutor sweeps away any attempt to bring the case closer to Nordahl Lelandais. No link is likewise established at this stage with the recent suicide of Geoffroy Part, the victim's husband, on 15 September.

BBM

I read a bit more about the case and IMHO this has nothing to do with Nordahl Lelandais. The husband was violent, but never had a car and the remains of Nathalie were found 20 kms from her home. The body had been burned in another place, somewhere inside and it seems that Nathalie had been poisoned with a specific poison that is not readily available.
Nordahl Lelandais would have been 17 at the time, and his involvement does not seem likely. This was probably done by an adult with access to a factory or a building with a furnace. Nathalie's dog was found after 3 days, 30 km from where her body was found, and in good condition, even if it had rained for days.

The big news is of course that France not only has all these unexplained disappearances but also so many unresolved cold cases and that in 2016 this unit OCRVP "specialized in the treatment of cold cases" had decided to reopen 97 unsolved criminal cases. 97 of how many, one wonders?

RTBF, the French language Belgian broadcaster has aired a report about Nordahl Lelandais in their series Devoir d'Enquête ~ Duty to Investigate.

Link here:

Devoir d'enquête - Dans la tête de Nordahl Lelandais (5/9) - 01/05/2019

I arrived there via a link of their FB-page

Devoir d'enquête - Dans la tête de Nordahl Lelandais (5/9) - 01/05/2019

and then I had to register with FB or Google to see the report. That worked immediately.

What I saw:

- All in French with no subtitles except for 'Morgan', an alias. A former best friend of NL who speaks of their lives at the time. He seems surprised that he did not see certain aspects before for what they were. He is the one in many of the 'gay' pictures of Nordahl Lelandais!

- Talking experts. Lawyers, reporters, specialists in criminology and in serial killers. I recognized many lawyers who represent families of the missing. Present: NL's first lawyer. Absent: NL's current lawyer.

- First fifty minutes: about NL, his MO, his youth, the family he grew up in and his time in the army. How did he become what he became?
About Maëlys and the scary swiftness with which he managed to gain her trust abduct her.

- Around 49 minutes: other possible victims, from the forty cases that have been identified, 4 or 5 people actually knew NL.

- Lucie Roux is mentioned, her sister speaks. The fact that Lucie's remains have not been found is reminiscent of Nordahl Lelandais' MO in the cases of Maëlys and Arthut Noyer.

- Ahmed Hamadou, Jean Christophe Morin. More info about Jean Christophe, he lived a marginal life, was a drug user and like Ahmed Hamadou he was a vulnerable person. Striking detail: Sister Adeline and her father return to the Fort de Tamié one year after the disappearance of Jean Christophe, they want to raise awareness, and hopefully meet people who may have seen their son and brother the year before. That night, Ahmed Hamadou disappears. While they were there. That must have been surreal, creepy to say the least.
My own impression from the images that were shown of the Fort is that a vulnerable person on drugs may well become psychotic or upset by the shadows and lights in this ancient stone building.

- Adrien Fiorello. The private detective who investigated Adrien's disappearance, speaks about what he did and what he found. According to the detective, Adrien had been looking at gay meeting places on his computer. His phone pinged in Chambéry, and 10 months after his disappearance there would have been sightings of him in a club. (I hope I heard this correctly through the music in the background.) But messages about Adrien stopped completely in the year that Lucie Roux disappeared.

- Expectations: according to the experts, there will be more cases, but Nordahl Lelandais will not help anyone. He feels no remorse, his victim was no more than an object, thrown away where he or she was less likely to be found. NL likes being in control and running the show, or the investigation. He is very organized.

Thank you so much for posting all of this for us. And it got me wondering....

Would LE propose more 're-creations' to NL, to try appealing to his vanity? Perhaps then he would admit to more of his victims?

Isère : sept ans après la disparition de Malik Boutvillain, un nouvel appel à témoins est lancé

A call for witnesses has been issued by the Grenoble judicial police on Monday, May 6, in connection with the disturbing disappearance of Malik Boutvillain seven years ago in Isère. The family of the missing man deplores once again the vagueness surrounding this investigation.

On May 6, 2012, Malik Boutvillain, 31, left his home in Echirolles without any money, mobile phone or identity papers. Seven years later, to the day, the family still does not know under what circumstances the thirty-something disappeared. But the investigation was reopened in early 2018, after a complaint from the family. An investigating judge has been appointed, allowing new investigations to be carried out.

It is in this context that a new call for witnesses is being launched on Monday, May 6, the Grenoble judicial police station reports, confirming information from the Dauphiné Libéré. Anyone with information about Malik Boutvillain is asked to contact the investigators on 04.76.60.41.05/06 or 04.78.78.78.40.60. "It's a bottle into the ocean," according to a police source close to the case, who does not offer any more details.

disparition_inquietante_malik-boutvillain-1-4221509.jpg

On many occasions, Malik Boutvillain's family has regretted, through their lawyer, the lack of resources allocated to the investigation. Investigations carried out "with the means of the moment", Me. Bernard Boulloud denounced at the end of 2018. "It was the family that had to do the searches of the neighborhood, I regret that there was no investigation. We lost six years of evidence."

This new call for witnesses, launched at the family's request, is a ray of hope for Dalila Boutvillain. But seven years after her brother's death, she regrets being "still in the dark." "We are not kept informed of the progress of the investigation. We feel left out, ignored," she says.

According to an investigation by Le Parisien, published in early April, Malik Boutvillain's disappearance was one of 40 cases closely monitored by the gendarmerie's Ariane cell. Created in early 2018, this cell investigates cases of unsolved disappearances in the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes region that could be attributed to Nordahl Lelandais, the alleged killer of little Maëlys.

Of the 900 cases initially studied by this unit based in Val-d'Oise, 40 were selected to be the subject of cross-examinations with Lelandais' life journey, according to our colleagues. Information that official sources refuse to confirm, even to the families concerned.

"I still have to answer questions from each of the families who asked me about the reliability of the information published in the press," said Me. Bernard Boulloud, following the publication of the Parisian survey. "I am quite incapable of doing so because, there is nothing that General Lecouffe [Deputy Director of the Judicial Police in Paris] tells me!"

The lawyer for the family of the disappeared says he is "exasperated" by this omerta which "adds to the deep suffering of each of the families." Bernard Boulloud also defends the relatives of Corporal Arthur Noyer, one of Nordahl Lelandais' alleged victims.

A worrying factor in Malik Boutvillain's disappearance is that he is not the only one who vanished seven years ago. Hugo Raffi, Stéphane Chemin, Ahmed Hamadou.... In total, eleven people disappeared around the same time. Some families therefore decided to file a complaint against X in early 2018, including the Boutvillain family, and this led to the judicial inquiry being reopened.

No doubt there will be more reconstructions if and when more evidence is uncovered. But without a link, a (partial) confession and clear evidence like in the cases of Maëlys (CCTV) and of Arthur Noyer (mobile phone pings), it is next to impossible to do a serious reconstruction.

And thanks for still being on this thread, Jim!

I hope to follow this file for a long time to come, it is amazing to see how much the disappearance of one little girl set into motion.
Total agreement here! So thankful this little one was his last victim. Just wish it did not have to be Maëlys to bring him down. Our world works in mysterious ways. Sigh.

Disparition de Malik Boutvillain : l'avocat de la famille va demander que l'enquête soit confiée à la gendarmerie

Bernard Boulloud, lawyer for the family of Malik Boutvillain, will request that the investigation into the disappearance of the young man be entrusted to the gendarmerie to allow "speeding up the process." Malik Boutvillain was last seen in Echirolles seven years ago.

A new call for witnesses was launched by the Grenoble judicial police on Monday, April 6, in connection with the disappearance of Malik Boutvillain. The 30-year-old has not given a sign of life for seven years and his family's lawyer considers that "a lot of time" has been lost in this investigation. Me. Bernard Boulloud will therefore "request that the gendarmerie be entrusted with the case."

A measure necessay, according to the lawyer, "to have investigators who are familiar with the Lelandais cases and who will be able to speed up the process." At this stage, no link has been established between the disappearance of the man from Isère and Nordahl lelenadais, the alleged murderer of little Maëlys. But the case of the disappearance of Malik Boutvillain "could be one of the 40 cases selected by the Ariane cell," according to Me. Bernard Boulloud.

Created in early 2018, this unit of the gendarmerie investigates cases of disappearance or unsolved murders in the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes regionthat are potentially attributable to Nordahl Lelandais. However, no official source is able to confirm this information revealed by Le Parisien in April.

"The Grenoble police, at least regarding this case, does not seem very enthusiastic. Since I filed a complaint more than a year ago, I have not seen the documents accumulate in the file," the lawyer of the Boutvillain family notes. He will ask the gendarmerie to take over the investigation "at the latest next week."

The decision will be made by the investigating judge who is in charge of this case since the beginning of 2018, the date on which the family filed a complaint against X, allowing the investigation to be reopened. "I will refer the matter to the Chamber of Investigation if necessary because we can no longer wait any longer (...) We will go back to the Court of Cassation, to the Ministry, but we will do it," Me. Bernard Boulloud announced.

The lawyer, who had already denounced the slow progress of the investigation, deplored that "seven years[had] been lost because of the justice system's failure, from the outset, to do the right thing". He also regrets the poor communication surrounding this investigation: "When the Boutvillain family calls me, I am unable to tell them anything optimistic. There is the secret of instruction, the Boutvillain family does not want to know what is being investigated but they want to be reassured. Their lawyer's word would reassure them. Only, it's empty."

Me. Bernard Boulloud, who also represents the relatives of Corporal Arthur Noyer, one of Nordahl Lelandais' alleged victims, explains that the case has been at a standstill since 2014, with no new evidence available. And the Lelandais trail is not the only one to be considered according to him: "Just because he is in the 40 files studied by the Ariane cell does not necessarily mean that we will open the Lelandais door. I remain convinced that we must open other doors, explore other avenues, but we need testimony and clues to move the investigation forward."

In this context, the call for witnesses published on Monday could make it possible to "awaken memories everywhere in France if it is broadcast nationally." A hope for the family to finally find the right piece of information that will relaunch the investigation. In the absence of new facts, the case could be closed again by the courts. But the family promises to "remain vigilant" so that the case is not "completely buried" and thus avoid the statute of limitation.

Vidéos intimes de ses ex sur internet : classement sans suite pour Lelandais

Three women, who were once in a relationship with Nordahl Lelandais, had filed a complaint after discovering intimate videos that were shot without their knowledge and posted on the web. The court has recently dismissed the case, "for lack of evidence."

There is anger and a feeling of "abandonment from justice" among these three women. Last week, they received a notification from the Chambéry public prosecutor's office, which dismissed their complaints without further action: "for lack of evidence."

In September 2017, when the Lelandais affair broke out, these former girlfriends (one of whom lives in Isère) of the Domessin dog handler discovered intimate videos on the Internet, shot without their knowledge. These videos were hosted on a pornographic site, on a page belonging to the profile 'Tyron 973': "named after his dog and the department of Guyana where he was in the army."

Until today, these victims of Nordahl Lelandais had remained discreet: "out of respect for the families of Maëlys and Arthur Noyer."

As the government makes violence against women a priority, these three victims are now wondering what they should do.

"Personally, I am in therapy. My doctor explained to me that this video was like a virtual rape," explains one of them. Together with their lawyers, they intend to challenge this decision to discontinue the proceedings: "and since the courts consider that there is no evidence, an appeal is made to these other women who may also have been victims of Nordahl. He attacked a young man, he attacked a little girl. But we have the impression that women do not exist in the files even though he has a huge criminal history with them."

Nordahl Lelandais. Complaints from three former girlfriends dismissed in Savoie
Preliminary investigation remains open for "violence with weapon"

(...) The lawyer for one of these complainants, Me Ronald Gallo, pointed out to Agence France Presse (AFP) the "disturbing" aspect of such a case for his client. He said he wanted to review the content of the investigation to see if he would relaunch the complaint. According to him, the classification goes back to last week.

On the other hand, the prosecutor said, a preliminary investigation is still open for "violence with a weapon" following the complaint of Mr. Gallo's client who accused Nordahl Lelandais of assaulting her by car in mid-July 2017. Six months earlier, she had ended their relationship of about a year and a half when she learned that he was cheating on her. She said she then had been beaten, and later met Nordahl Lelandais with a hedge trimmer in his hand in a wooded area where he knew she used to walk her dogs. In July, she also accused him of intentionally driving into her car, but he did not hit it.

In addition to the murders of Arthur Noyer and Maëlys, Nordahl Lelandais is prosecuted for sexual assaults on two little cousins, also in the summer of 2017. A specialized gendarmerie unit reported in February that it had identified some 40 criminal cases in which Nordahl Lelandais' involvement is being examined.
