FRAUD - Tammy & Sidney Moorer in Heather Elvis case, hearing held 17 Dec 2018

Why couldn't they just get their handwriting while they were in court? Why wait 30 days to get it??

I am pleased, that this couple, are continually stressed with this.:)
It hasn't been resolved, now more stressful times here, and then probably far more to worry about later.
Their times in court are never ending.:):):)
What a life!!!!:D
With both being responsible.

I think they should get the handwriting samples from documents they are known to have written before that date. Surely they must have something on file pertaining to old police statements, mortgage applications, passport or drivers licence applications. I suppose they can say those were written by someone else though and there's no proof. They've had a lot of warning time to practice and alter their handwriting.

I think that is why they have 30 days to "produce" them. I don't think they are getting new ones. That would not make any sense at all because like you said they could alter their handwriting.

Wish Casey Brown hasn't blocked the camera at the beginning -- I want to know what TM said to SM.

As an aside, Casey looks fuller in the face. Wonder if dealing with TM has led to stress eating. Frankly I'm surprised he's still representing her, after the way she threw her legal team under the bus after her conviction.

Ok this is a tidbit we need to remember. In case she appeals, which she will, on the grounds of poor representation. If she were unhappy with them why is she still letting him represent her in this? I'm just saying if I were a judge I'd question that, realize the truth that she just wants a retrial and deny it.

I just love that these two are in prison. I wish they were in prison for the murder of Heather; and I wish they would reveal what they did do her and where she is for the sake of her family. But since that doesn't seem to be on the docket for now, I am satisfied to see them in their prison garb with chains around their waists, not enjoying life, and experiencing the consequences of their actions. A long time coming. And I await SM's retrial on kidnapping charges so that he too can spend most of the rest of his life in prison, contemplating how devastatingly far into evil he chose to go.

The event will be Tuesday, Dec. 18 at Peach Tree Landing from 5-8 p.m.

The family described the event as follows:

"The Christmas season is about hope: a hope in Christ, who provides for an eternal home where we are finally all together again in peace and harmony. We will gather...to remember a piece of our family we have been missing for 5 long years. We hope you will join us to remember your loved ones as well. This night is not just about Heather, it is about our community. In the same way you have all gathered and stood faithful to our family in our time of need, we want to give back. This is a time and place to join together in celebration of our loved ones who we will spend Christmas separated from. Whether you are separated by distance, deployment, time, or death; it is the time of year we find most difficult to be apart. Let us choose to change our perspective and look to a future time when this will no longer be a problem. We will celebrate the best gift of all, eternal life in Christ. Come and write your loved ones' name on a luminary at the landing and help us celebrate the hope and peace of Christmas with the light of their love and memories. We will focus on the promise of Emmanuel (God with us) and have a "different kind of Christmas" this year. We will encourage each other by sharing the love, comfort and strength we ourselves have received from God and each other. If you aren't able to make it to the event, light a candle at home or post a candle picture online, and include your loved ones name. Know that we will also be praying at the vigil for you and yours."

I always wondered why the state took so long to bring this fraud case to trial in the first place. Seems like it could have been brought sooner. I wonder what the penalty would be for this fraud, if they are in fact found guilty of it?

If convicted of the misdemeanor making a false application, the couple each faces up to 3 years in jail & up to $1,000 fine. If convicted of the felony charge of obtaining property under false pretenses, the couple each faces up to 10 years in prison & up to a $500 fine.

I have always heard that any type of Medicare or Medicaid fraud is very serious and a big deal. The Federal government does not like people taking advantage illegally of tax dollars. Penalties can be stiff but prosecution is also complex a lot of times. But this case sounds rather simple. If they forged some legal documents or changed some dates then it seems like an easy case for prosecuters to prove.

I went to the vigil last night and I took a few pictures of the garden before the sunset and then after. Including one of a sign designating that wooded area as part of the wildlife refuge so I found that interesting in regards to that stray phone ping.
